Pence was in an un-winnable situation

I am kind of stunned that people on DU think he won. He was put in an impossible situation defending Trump. Yes he had great style but Kaine did exactly what he needed to do by constantly trying to get Pence to defend Trump which he could not. End of story end of debate. Mission accomplished Kaine. And I am not a huge Kaine fan.

1. Most people have little clue what it means to "win" a political debate.

Yes... Pence was clearly the superior debater tonight. But he can't be said to have "won" unless it helps Trump in some tangible way (most obviously in the polls).

3. No he was not "clearly superior." I will give him an edge on style, but he was kept on defense,

struggled to defend Trump, told massive lies, and Kaine did his job on the SUBSTANCE. Time and time again Pence simply denied what Trump had said. The thing coming out of this is Pence is "MR. DENIAL".

5. Even on style, Pence was clearly rattled several times and stumbled while recovering.

Kaine was rock solid making his points clearly and calmly and determinedly (after the first 10 minutes).

Pence won the first 10 minutes, the next 10 were a draw and then Kaine won about 95% of the remaining minutes.

2. Sen Kaine really did exactly what he needed to do.

He called Pence out on his own record and finished him off by stamping a big T-R-U-M-P across his forehead.
