2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIs Katy Tur Suffering From Stockholm Syndrome....
she just sounded like she was feeling sorry for Trump. She started out by saying a 'contrite Trump' made an apology.
Trump was anything but contrite in his video apology.
Sounds like she's been drinking the koolaid.

(8,168 posts)Your post is ridiculous

(58,724 posts)She was awful then. She is awful now.
There are many, many, many much more talented journalists that ought to have the opportunity to be covering the election and having the access that she does.

(58,724 posts)Lots of on air television personalities have had a boost in their career opportunities through a combination of having connections and being attractive.
I'm not sure how that is even debatable.

(58,724 posts)You are saying that having connections and being attractive are not helpful in terms of career advancement for on-air television personalities?
Fla Dem
(23,741 posts)While none of them are unattractive, they certainly aren't pin-up candidates. So same qualifications should be applied to the women.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)I would think that need not even be stated since it has been self-evident for a long time.
Look at this CNN panel, for example:
Fla Dem
(23,741 posts)of her looks and "suspected" connections. So you would seem to be implying in your opinion, that she was not hired for her talent, thus perpetuating the stereotyping, that women cannot do the same job as men and are hired only for their looks.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Virtually all of their on-air female talent are young, attractive, blonde women.
Do you think that it is a coincidence that the most talented available people for those jobs just happen to be young attractive blonde women or do you think that their appearance played some role in why they were hired?
I am making the argument that there are many many very talented women that are not being given the opportunities that they deserve because of the continuing existence of the problem that we are both identifying.

(9,494 posts)I don't think she's in the bag for Trump. She just doesn't seem to get what her job actually is. She probably got hired when no one thought Donald would get close to winning the primary.

(58,724 posts)And I do not understand some of the fawning I see over her here.

(8,999 posts)just don't get that their words are often inaccurate and incorrect.
Its often their OPINION, as in the example mentioned. She thought he sounded contrite but by what standard? Her standard?
I got a much harsher take from the video.

(2,959 posts)face said " this is just the beginning, asshole". I suspect her loathing of Trump and many in his campaign runs deep and long. She's enough of a professional journalist to keep it mostly in check.

She has criticized him pointedly. She is not one of his campaign sychophants,

(16,399 posts)Stop it. You folks obsess over every word or facial that could somehow someway be skewed as positive to Rump and wring your hands over it.
I've been watching her the last few days. She can barely mask her contempt any longer, and no one blames her. They feel sorry she has to endure this piece of garbage another month. Chris Matthews has this "I feel for you, kid" look on his face when he talks to her. I have a feeling she's gonna reveal a ton of shit on November 9 about the hell she's endured.

(12,400 posts)I give her an A+. NBC should give her a month's all paid vacation in Tahiti for that assignment.

(58,785 posts)now that that's basically the network line. We've never seen this star-track wonder cover Hillary. Will she hew to the network line when that time comes? If she tosses over her career to cover her honestly, then I'll admire her.

(58,706 posts)Katie is a pro on a very difficult assignment, and with a journalists obligation to try and maintain some professional demeanor.
Opinions to the contrary noted, but I think she has a future.
Blue Idaho
(5,057 posts)She is not there to tell us what she "thinks" or "feels" - she is there to report the facts in as unbiased a way as is humanly possible. That's her job.
I can have opinions - and my opinion is - she will write one hell of a book after this is all over about her daily interactions with that lecher.

if she comes down to hard on tRumpenstein, especially now while he's being "sensitive" , he'll cut her off
