2016 Postmortem

Oh, I am exasperated. I *hope* I've misconstrued something. On FB, a friend said this: "It's fucking locker room talk. Trust me. I discuss this for a living and talk about this topic almost everyday in class. When talking to people we know about sexual acts, we speak in a very demeaning kind of way."
I am FREAKING THE FUCK OUT. OOOoooooooh THIS MOTHERFUCKER RIGHT HERE. I can't breathe. I am serious.
My response was this:
Um, you *completely reveal your misogyny by saying this: "When talking to people we know about sexual acts, we speak in a very demeaning kind of way." And, wait: are you telling me you talk about this everyday TO YOUR STUDENTS???? ARE YOU FUCKING SAYING THAT " It's fucking locker room talk. Trust me. I discuss this for a living and talk about this topic almost everyday in class. When talking to people we know about sexual acts, we speak in a very demeaning kind of way."
??????? Are you saying this is what you tell your fucking kids in class????? Let me fucking find out this is what you're doing, because if you are, there is no fucking way you belong in ANY classroom. You seriously might want to reconsider some shit. You have no frame of reference for sexism, and, holy fucking shitballs... you'd better start DOING better if that's the shit you're pulling.

(5,737 posts)But to toss in the other arrogant crap that Trump did, shows a complete jerk at his core. Jimmy Cater is pretty darned well known too. Haven't heard this kind of talk and arrogance from him.

(23,565 posts)It wasn't just talking about sexual acts.
He has done plenty of talking crudely about sexual acts and it hasn't hurt him in the campaign.
The difference now is he boasted about attacking women.

(41,991 posts)He can do it but you don't have to let it ruin a minute of your life. That's the secondary harm in this kind of thing that those who do it don't even recognize.
Lose him.

(6,568 posts)My response was "I have NEVER gleefully discussed talking about sexually assaulting women".
There's a HUGE difference between lewd discussions of sexual escapades, or discussing how "hot" someone (ie, actual locker room talk) and discussing how great it is that you can sexually assault anyone you want because you're a star.

(13,566 posts)Most guys don't brag about that, because it's horrible and illegal.

(25,586 posts)Typical guy talk (at least in my circle) can be occasionally objectifying in all honesty ("She's got ass for days!" but certainly never involves casual discussion of sexual assault.
That's not guy talk, it's just revolting.

(9,581 posts)There's a HUGE basket of these assholes out there. Just as we were surprised by the racism after President Obama was elected, we're getting ready to see these misogynist cockroaches crawling out - many of them well spoken, educated, and "respectable."
