2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumKathleen Willie is a liar who tried to get a friend to lie for her.
There were a number of lies Starr discovered during his investigation -- including Willie lying in sworn statements -- all of which ultimately added up to him not prosecuting her case. But I will focus on just one.
She called up her friend Julie Hyatt Steele out of the blue, and told her a Newsweek reporter was on the way to talk to her, and asked her to corroborate the story she had told them of being sexually assaulted by Clinton. Steele knew Willie was asking her to lie, but went along because Willie pressured her. Shortly afterwards, Steele called the reporter and recanted what she had told him, and he assured her he wouldn't publish it. But he did.
Then Ken Starr got involved, and he went after Steele. He tried to force her to sign a deposition repeating Willie's story. Steele refused. Ken Starr went so far as to press criminal charges of obstruction of justice against Steele because she stuck to her truth -- which was that Willie had asked her to confirm she had seen her right after the "attack" -- but that Willie was asking her to lie.
Julie Hyatt Steele went to trial and won. But she held her head high through the whole, scary ordeal -- because she faced years in prison if she was convicted.
Julie Hyatt Steele, by the way, was a Republican, with no reason for supporting Clinton. But she had great integrity and was determined to tell the truth.

So the only charges filed was for someone that told the truth. The Starr Chamber and the Republican party at work stopping all legislation and putting our judicial system near the abyss.

(108,994 posts)Julie Hyatt Steele was the only person who actually went through a criminal trial, and that was for insisting on telling the truth.

(92,396 posts)platform is based on racism and sexism, and that is not the qualities of a President.
If it becomes even uglier, then Hillary can say that Melania is not responsible for the behavior of her husband.
In this way she is not bringing herself into the Conversation about Bill Clinton, but taking the offensive, and throwing it back into Trump's disgusting scumy face

(7,476 posts)"Tripp -- who later became a principal witness in Starr's inquiry into Clinton's relationship with Lewinsky -- testified that Willey had confided that she harbored romantic feelings for Clinton and had been sending him notes and flirting with him. When the alleged encounter occurred, Tripp told the grand jury, Willey was excited and pleased, though it "almost took her breath away, it was so forceful."
