I have a son who is 29 years old.

Here's what he texted me today in connection with the Trump attempts at apology"

Calling this shit "locker room talk" is fucking absurd.

I've never heard that shit in a locker room.

And yes in locker rooms people will say some sexist things. But generally those people are assholes.

They are either assholes or people talking like assholes to try and fit in. And I've never been in a locker room room where either was acceptable. And he's said things that are so much worse.

I think I raised my son right.

…in Junior High. Generally coming from the most obnoxious 13-year-olds trying (and failing) to convince everyone else there that they weren't virgins.

And, in High School, there were one or two guys among the jocks who still acted like that -- but everyone else regarded them as immature jerks (and, once again, probably with zero experience of their own).

Beyond that? Never. Maybe I didn't run in wealthy-enough circles.

Normally, we talk about girls we've been with, girls we'd like to be with and where we will go find a girl. This was in my 20s.

Now, close to my 40s, my buddies and I talk about our wives, our jobs and how we wish were were 20 years younger.

I've heard a few guys talk like that. They're predictable. Bullies with severe insecurities. Shunned by most people. They have a few infantile friends.

I'm over 60. I have a very good friend about a year older than me. We've known each other for more than 35 years. He said that Trump's comments really are locker room comments, although he does not fully defend them. I'm a bit fascinated by the difference between my son's take and my friend's take. Granted, neither one is exactly defending the Donald, but the generation difference between saying, "Ok, this happens", and "Only assholes say this stuff" is interesting.

With any luck at all, Donald will not only lose big next month, but no one under the age of 30 or so will vote for him. No one.

And let us not forget: Trump made his despicable comments not while in a locker room, but in a workplace. #HostileWorkEnvironment

He's trying to imply that his disgusting behavior is normal when it's not.

This should hurt him with a lot of men, too, especially men who know anyone who has been sexually assaulted.
