2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumRomney and Rove are right!!
In thinking about people I know (friends, family, acquaintances, co-workers) I've come to realize--some people really DO feel entitled, and are takers. The more I considered it, the more positive I've become. However, I also realized something else:
Its the wealthy that feel they're entitled and are the takers!
However, I've found that its not all wealthy people, its the nouveau riche that are really bad about it. I have found good people among the wealthy, but usually its the people of at least 2nd generation wealth that give of themselves.
And, the people who will almost always gladly give of their time, their effort, and what little extra money they have, is really the 47%.
So, yes, Romney and Rove are right.....but its THEIR people who are the takers, not the people working 2 jobs and just barely getting by, or the working single parents, or the long-term unemployed....its the people like Romney and Rove and their ilk.

(5,946 posts)It all depends on the person. It is not always how they are brought up either, it is how their peers treat them, if their peers suck up, well, they will feel entitled. That is why they say that parents have to monitor their children's friends. It might just be the luck of the draw.

(666 posts)that was never in the tax code before and now they won't let go of it. The tax laws on dividends have always been at regular rates. Oh sure there were laws in which dividends reinvested weren't taxed or the first $400 of dividends weren't taxed but never at a favorable rate at only 15%. Same thing with the capital gains. Oh some tax laws had 40% of LT gains taxable but again at regular rates. But since they got this 15% rate they are so selfish and don't want to give it back. Bush should have repealed this when we went to war. Do you think the rich would have complained then? Publicly? Not support our troops?
