Can we please retire the meme that this is a "change election?"

I know we've heard that all year (I never felt it was accurate). And while I suppose you could have made that claim early in the primary season, at THIS point in the election, the only change that's going to happen is the Rs losing Congress, which is not a done deal. Besides, control of Congress was never part of the discussion when the pundits droned on about a change election.

When it comes to the race for POTUS, the race is now about competence, experience and suitability for the job, which is why Hillary is running away with this thing. Voters may have walked up to the edge of the change abyss, but they have definitely pulled back from that edge less than a month out from the election.

the "change election" thing emerged in response to the obviousness of hillary as the status quo candidate.

republicans wanted a "change election" for obvious reasons; and in the democratic primary, no one was going to challenge hillary as the status quo candidate, only a "change" candidate had any chance.
