More info on Murphy/West

The St. Lucie County Canvassing Board resumed ballot counting this morning in the tight congressional race between Republican Rep. Allen West and Democrat Patrick Murphy under the watchful eyes of dozens of attorneys and supporter of both candidates.

Canvassing board member Tod Lowery, who regularly updates the audience on the process, explained that the board still had write-in ballots and other questionable ballots from 8 days of early voting to review before the noon deadline for the state’s 67 supervisors of elections to submit their final, certified tallies to the state Division of Elections.

Last Sunday, the canvassing board agree to recount ballots cast the last three days of early voting after election officials revealed that machines had been unable to read some of the electronic memory cartridges. West’s attorneys then sought a recount of all early ballots after the elections office admitted double-counting some ballots and ignoring others on election night.

“There was such a cloud of suspicion,” said Jeffrey Scott Shapiro, a Boca Raton attorney on the West legal team. Shapiro observed much of the ballot review in Palm Beach county. “I felt the way the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections handled it created suspicion and I still don’t know if it was unnecessary or justified.”

oh fer crying out loud.

from Twitter (some West supporter at the scene):

"Attorneys for Allen West have been dispatched to the St. Lucie County courthouse for request an emergency hearing on the noon deadline the St. Lucie County canvassing board missed to certify results"

because they were unable to get it to load in time and they may have to certify the original counts.
Problem with the last card going in can't be read, unsure what is going on. Attorneys in 1 room now
IMHO the CLOCK WAS INTENTIONALLY RUN OUT as the counts were done, this was an "upload" malfunction NO A COUNTING one

I think Scott is the worst and most corrupt governor in the nation - yes, worse than Walker. I'm doubtful he will go to the mat for West; they throw each other overboard when it's convenient. Still, bears watching.

West lost the election, he lost the partial re-tabulation of some early votes, now they've missed the deadline on the recount of all early votes, which means, he lost yet again. How many times does it take? They will run to court to try once again to get an exception to state law. He is not even entitled to this recount-it's so obviously politically motivated. If there had never been an error requiring the re-tabulation I don't think the canvassing board would have had a leg to stand on to order the early vote recount. As both judges that denied the recount said, once certified, either side can sue about the results. Let them declare Murphy the official winner and West can sue. That's the only fair thing to do now. It has to end at some point -there needs to be finality to elections at some point.

The GOP loves a good conspiracy. Of course these same people didn't care when early voting was cut in FLA or voter ID laws were attempted. They only care when their votes are supposedly suppressed.

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (AP) -- A noon deadline has passed to report new returns in the race between Democrat Patrick Murphy and Republican U.S. Rep. Allen West.

Officials in St. Lucie County, where a recount was being conducted, made no announcement of their findings.

Under state law, unless they have received an emergency exemption from the state, unofficial results filed last week will be certified.

Those results showed Murphy the winner in the race by about 1,900 votes.

he can to go back to Big Gubment.

When will they shut this MoFo up already? Certify the results and Murphy as winner, and move on.

Wacky-West sure is a horrible sore loser, even more so than his fellow Republican'ts.

that is repulsive about the Teapublican party.
Their would be only one upside were West to pull this off.
He would continue to degrade the Teapublican brand.
