Related: About this forumWhoha! Trump Just Cut Ties With The Ohio GOP
The Donald Trump campaign has issued a statement cutting ties with Ohio GOP Chair Matt Borges. Ohio, a swing state with 20 Electoral College votes at play, is critical to any presidential campaign.
Trumps Ohio chairman Bob Paduchik is accusing Borges of undermining Trump to take Reince Priebuss job as chair of the Republican National Committee.
Paduchik wrote a letter to the state community. It read in part:
Its no great secret that Chairman Borges was never fully on board, but his actions over the last week demonstrate that his loyalties to Gov. John Kasichs failed presidential campaign eclipse his responsibility as chairman of the Ohio Republican Party. The chairman is also driven by an apparently insatiable need for publicity.

If this is true, Trump will have fewer resources in Ohio.

(49,040 posts)Too close? Historically that is a huge lead for the Dem to have at this point. Almost could not ask for better.

(11,802 posts)So most of the Ohio GOP can look forward to being primaried and losing to John Birch society loons. Ohio goes blue over the next few cycles. I've never experienced such delicious incompetence before. Are we sure this guys not a plant?

I can easily see Trump doing this to plant another conspiracy excuse once he los4es. But he is close in Ohio. What sense does it make to declare war at this time -- unless Trump's internal polling shows that he has lost Ohio?

(8,021 posts)His goal is maximum destruction, and making sure he has a laundry list of people to blame for his failure. This guy is now the convenient scapegoat for losing Ohio.
BlueStreak
(8,377 posts)He was only running to bolster the Trump brand. He never expected to get the nomination.
And as the nomination started to appear possible, he put it into "max crazy" mode, not to win, but to force the Party to make him an offer to get out.
I believe he fully expected the Party bosses to huddle and come up with an offer Trump couldn't refuse. And offer such as "You drop out of the race and we'll make sure that you get access to real estate, environmental permits, and funding to build $5 billion of properties."
I believe he was genuinely surprised that the Party nave came to negotiate. SO what could he do? He just kept running.

(612 posts)This campaign needs to be documented for high school history text books. It is the closest we have come to flirting with real facism, White Supremacy and demonstrable incompetence in a presidential candidate. Future generations need to be aware of what form of evil almost captured our nation, and they must see how forcefully and definitively we rejected this Bufoon. He needs not only to be defeated, but to be humiliated by a landslide election.

(612 posts)I agree with you, pangaia - It's not over until it's over. And I do experience some anxiety about turnout. But I'm increasing optimistic about Hillary 's chances of a definitive victory. I'm not celebrating, but I am excited and - to repeat myself - optimistic.

While we Democrats knew Donald J tRump was a damaged unqualified 12 year old personality from very early on, Republicans couldn't see it and let him walk away with their prized candidacy. They pride themselves on their supposed adultness and gravitas, but they totally blew it. They fell for him, bought his con and were completely suckered.
The GOP built tRump.
They own his train wreck.
The old-line rational (but misguided) Republicans will either have to cut off their Rump with a rusty hack saw or they will have to leave en masse and form a new party.

(45,806 posts)I've know quite a few, all with different personalities. Many are egotists and dictators, However NONE have refused to at least listen to the recommendations of their senior staff. They didn't ALWAYS take the advice, but considered it. The Con is a real jackass. I can't understand how he's been as successful making money as he has been.
As far as Ohio goes, Kashich is a very popular Governor and for Con to move against him or his "close friend" Borges is a very stuipid move that will bite him bad. Bye, bye, Conman. You have been entertaining.
