BY ANDREW CAIN Richmond Times-Dispatch
Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson told students at Liberty University in Lynchburg today that Justice Clarence Thomas is the type of jurist he would nominate to the U.S. Supreme Court as president.
"With regard to Supreme Court justices, it would be an issue of justices ruling on the basis of original intent of the Constitution," Johnson said in a question and answer session following his remarks at the nation's largest evangelical university.
"I think that Judge Thomas has probably been at the forefront of the kind of a judge that I would like to appoint."
As for his position on abortion, Johnson, a former New Mexico governor, says on his campaign website that his "approach to governing is based on a belief that individuals should be allowed to make their own choices in their personal lives" and that "abortion is a deeply personal choice."

(459 posts)seriously this should settle it for any bernie supporter that actually cares about the issues bernie was fighting for. any of them that are thinking of voting for johnson or trump has just completely lost it and is not about those issues like they say.
people, if hillary wins and dems at least get the senate then we got a lot better chance to do some of the things bernie actually wants than if neither of those things happen while you waste a vote on a third party. bernie will become a power broker in the senate and will actually be able to do some good for the country. if you stay at home on election day or vote for someone other than hillary then that dream does not become a reality. this is how everyone has to be shaping this argument to all our liberal friends that are on the fence.

(1,786 posts)the less I respect him. I used to like him a little bit, but now he is just another idiot trying to get attention.
What an election season. We've seen the most bizarre candidates come out of the woodwork and, although it's been entertaining, it can also be dangerous if ever one of these idiots makes it to the White House.

(28,262 posts)Clarence Thomas lied his way into being the least competent SCOTUS justice of modern times. Anita Hill told the truth, and got her reputation savaged for it. And now Gary Johnson is pimping for Clarence Thomas-style decisions? Fuck that.
