2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBREAKING: Trump national political director 'steps back' from campaign–Jim Murphy,
This move will weaken the GOTV efforts in Trump's swing state strategy... What little organization there was and should effect the down ballot elections.
"I have not resigned but for personal reasons have had to take a step back from the campaign," Murphy said in a statement to POLITICO.
Since joining the Trump campaign in June, Murphy, a longtime party operative, has played a key role in setting up field programs in battleground states.

OP
Don't worry, Murphy, I'm sure you'll be paid in full for the time you put in so far.

IMHO, there is a spreading cancer of Putin connections being uncovered.

(62,444 posts)13. I think there could be an ongoing investigation
Murphy was a DCI Group crony brought in by Manafort. Marcos was DCI's client.
Hours after Duterte announces he is separating from the US - whatever that means - Murphy has "personal issues" and leaves the Trump campaign.

(36,437 posts)6. The RNC surely directed him to stand down
Trump was given an ultimatum by Priebus (coming from the big R donors TO Priebus): "Turn it around at Debate #3, or the spigots are off and you're done." It's why he looked so enraged when Wallace called it.
Now the unwinding starts from the RNC perspective. This is Step 1. Expect more in the coming days.

(8,377 posts)7. The "personal reason" is probably that Trump stopped paying his staff.
