http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Hell%20Hath%20No%20FuryMay this message be sent loud and clear to Donald!
Recently I created a thread about the suffragettes and suffragists and how I am grateful that those women fought for my right to vote and they kept fighting for decades to ensure that all women could vote. It is interesting in the last few weeks of this election cycle the leaked tape of Donald bragging about sexually assaulting women has created a situation where for once inches history of America, women are poised to honor those suffragettes and suffragists who were never able to legally vote. That in some clever uncanny twist of fate women can completely alter the course of this election by voting all across the nation while simultaneously repudiating and denouncing men like Trump who we have all encountered in one way or another in our lives; incidentally we can also cast votes to honor our female ancestors who endured this sexist, chauvinistic attitude in addition to being sexually harassed and assaulted throughout history. We have the power!
Nate Silver at 538 created a map of what the election results would look like if only women voted.

I believe American women can surpass even that map. Women vote. Statistically and historically we vote more than men. And this year we are "mad as hell" Trump has scorned American women! Look out Trump. You did this.

(22,897 posts)It absolutely makes me livid when people (esp. women) don't bother voting.

(1,019 posts)people not voting. It is deeply disturbing to me too. I believe we all need to vote. It is the least we can do. People have fought and died for this right, many people throughout history in various positions. We have a civic duty, a responsibility to vote.
And, yes, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to the women who fought for our right to vote. Thank goodness they had the foresight and fortitude along with a burning desire to overcome that uphill battle for the right to vote.

(68,631 posts)and the men resisted but said OK fine with little trouble...I had no idea the real story. I lived in Alice Paul's house in Connecticut too. You would have thought I had a clue. Well, I saw Iron Angels...and I was shocked at what women went through to get the vote...I read up on the issue and was surprised and shocked at the resistance women faced and the bravery required to obtain this right for us...hats off to you Grandma...you marched with your Mom as a child...(My Dad was born late in life to my gran who was born in 1900). She also wore short dresses and smoked, became a flapper! She no longer smoked and her dresses reached her knees when she became my Gran, but she was always cool...sent me stuff my Mom hated and I loved! Thanks, Grandma, Great Grandma and all the other women over the years that gave us the vote.

(68,631 posts)The older one was really cool. It was built in the 1700's originally or so I was told...the house had been updated over the years but still you could see the old parts...she called it the cottage. It was on a small lake. My Mother told me she was living in Altna Craig nursing home in Ridgefield during her last days...she died in 1977 I believe or so I was told. This is the picture of the old house. We knew she chained herself to a fence in DC...my Mom told us...so we used to have seances in the house and try to contact her...a wonder we didn't burn the house down.
My Dad fixed up another house on the property where her son lived as an adult...I don't know if he built it or it was already there. Here is the link...couldn't copy it so here is the link...two houses are now separated but when my parents owned it ...it was two houses on one property...

(1,019 posts)interesting story. Glad the house survived
I will have to read about Alice because I am not familiar with her. I had no idea she chained herself
up in DC or anywhere else for that matter. WOW!
