In other news, I just returned from voting & I didn't even cry till I got outside & then I had to put my head against a tree hide my face.

A girl actually asked her mother "Why is that man crying Mommy." Her mother just gave me an "Aw" look and answered that sometimes Democracy is

so beautiful that it's overwhelming. I found my tree as the girl and her mother trailed away with the girl asking "Mommy what's Democracy?"

And what differed from the experience of voting for Obama was the deep sense of urgency that you could see one every face. And we

all seemed to share it. Every time I made eye contact with anyone there was always a knowing nod exchanged. We weren't just electing the

the next first, we were saving the goddamned country. It was very moving. Almost every second or third mother had a daughter with her and I

witnessed more than one ask her daughter(s) if she wanted to push it with her. It was amazing I made it to the tree. When my voting machine

Well two for sure and a pretty sure feeling about my third history making vote counting in an effort to keep america in the sane camp. November 9 I think all the brownshirts are definitely going to know that anything they do that's stupid will just show them how outnumbered they are.

(246 posts)As a white guy I often forget to think about how Obama's and Clinton's elections will affect and inspire people.
As one wag put it, the Clinton inauguration will be when eight-year-olds get to experience their first white President.

(10,839 posts)Seeing Hillary's name on the ballot today did make my heart jump a beat. I suspect the moment she's announced as our President-Elect I'll be tearing up.
Yes, we'll have saved the country and also done something else quite remarkable: elected our first woman to the Office of the Presidency.
A Big F**cking Deal, to quote Joey Biden.

(10,839 posts)And we'll have the Democratic Party and so many hard-working, faithful people to thank for both spectacularly historic events. It's like two moonshots, back-to-back.
Utterly blows my mind!
Makes me really, really proud of the country. Something to tell my grand babies about. If I ever have any, that is. But hey, I'm a believer now so anything's possible. :0)

(2,284 posts)I will be taking my little girl with me, so that she can help me push that button.
And so that I can tell her one day she was there.
I cried my eyes out when I voted in the primary; I'm thinking this will just be a flood...
And this OP is beautiful.

(12,448 posts)I'm voting Thursday; MD is late for early voting, but that's okay! I can't wait to fill in that little oval beside Hillary's name. I can already feel the tears welling! Thanks for posting.

(901 posts)When I glanced at the ballot and saw Hillary's name was really there, I felt such a rush of emotions, I didn't know if I would laugh or cry, but then I burst out with a sort of cheer and started clapping (good thing I was at home and not in a booth!), and my little dog came running and barking, not sure what was going on. I'm just so proud of Hillary. What a contrast! The first woman to be at the top of the ticket, who is brilliant and highly accomplished, versus her opponent, a classless, revolting ignoramus, who's clearly a racist, misogynist, sexual pervert, con artist, and pathological liar.
My mom felt the same and said she is really happy to have lived long enough and in a time when she could vote for the first black President, who is such an awesome, wonderful President, and for the first woman President, who is brilliant, strong, and determined.
