Which unfortunately is now being disbanded. It was set up to let leaders in industry and governments to exchange ideas and develop programs to solve problems across the world. The CGI did not collect the money for those efforts and did not administer them - the programs were run by the leaders and governments that agreed to handle those needs.

So it would be natural for a governmental person who was trying to solve a problem to approach the US government and specifically the State Department to ask for help in solving those problems identified by CGI.

The Clinton Global Initiative has kick started a lot of excellent programs by bringing problems to the attention of those who could make a difference. Closing it will be a loss to the world.

The real kicker is that Hillary Clinton had no official role in any of the Clinton Foundation sub-charities until AFTER she was no longer in the government. She took a role in 2013 when she was no longer Secretary of State.

James Carville is right - if the Clinton Foundation is closed due to the political pressure on the Clinton family - "Somebody is going to hell." (http://www.politico.com/story/2016/08/james-carville-clinton-foundation-attacks-227305)

8. Is So Frustrating When People Don't Differentiate Between a Non-Profit Foundation and a For-Profit

The basic thing all must understand is that legally a Foundation is established for the PUBLIC GOOD-in essence it is owned for our benefit as limited by its charitable purposes

It is not owned by the Clintons-it has no shareholders and can not be transferred for profit during the Clinton's life or by inheritance or inter vivos gift. There are no shareholders, no stock, no appreciation in stock, no dividends. Foundation assets are never owned by the Clintons. Funds can not inure to the benefit of any person including its principals (the Clintons). Now funds may be expended on behalf of its principals as long as it serves to further the performance of its charitable purposes. I'd be willing to discuss changing many regulations/laws concerning the thousands of religious, charitable, educational, scientific etc charities but Republicans have looked the other way for decades when these same regulations/laws concern their favorite religious non-profit. Now they are apoplectic when those same laws are applied to the Clintons

10. They get it. But the facts get in their way of the narrative to attack the good of the foundation.
