20% of Travis voters have cast ballots in unprecedented early voting

10 p.m. update: In total, 21 percent of registered Travis County voters have already cast their ballots in the first four days of early voting.

The final tally showed that 32,780 people showed up to vote Thursday. That’s lower than the first three daily totals, though still a robust turnout.

With Thursday’s turnout, the total number of Travis County residents who have now voted so far has reached 154,232.

These numbers are unprecedented. Travis County elections director Michael Winn said this season’s early voting turnout could potentially surpass the total turnout rates of previous elections before Election Day even arrives.

Three hours after polls closed, Williamson County’s final Thursday numbers were not yet in, but voter turnout was at 18.8 percent just in the first three days.

1. Considering that 90% of Travis County is registered to vote that is good news.

I don't know what the implications of Williamson County voting is though. However, it is usually Republican territory. There has been an influx of younger voters there--and then there are some fellow alumni from Southwestern University that also live there and they are reliably liberal based upon the Facebook comments that I read.

2. Yeah, we're seeing high turnout in ruby red Collin County, too.

Not sure what to make of that.

There is also some speculation that Collin County could be a good place for the never trump GOP types to vote against trump.

Usually TX has low voter turnout.
