Sounds as if the Pence plane incident was pilot error.

NBC Reporter said they had several rough landings on that plane to the point that there was discussion among the press about when something bad was going to happen.

How long before Trump finds a way to blame Hillary? "She was a Senator from New York! Why didn't she fix the runway at LaGuardia?"

4. Apparently the pilot bounced the landing in Iowa that day - clear skies and no wind.

So yes, it does raise the question as to why they would get back on that plane.

The Cheeto/ Pence ticket should pay for it. What an abuse of tax payer money!

If you select SATELLITE VIEW then move the map down to toward the SW you will see '4".at the end of a runway.. This is the departure end of runway 22, which was the runway in use. You can see the gravel area...
And there ain't much room between that, the airport road and then Grand Central Parkway.

Actually both LGA's runways - 4/22 and 13/31,. are known for being on the slightly short side.. 7,000'. Although still very safe. The other departure ends all lead to water.

Although the runways at Midway in Chicago are 500' shorter.. and coincidentally also 4/22 and 13/31..

... not strong enough for a 747." It's there for precisely that purpose.

News reports cited a tale wind and heavy rain. Planes like to land into the wind. After another skid off the runway there, there was lots of talk about what a difficult airport it is.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engineered_materials_arrestor_system. It isn't gravel; it's a sort of pavement that's designed to crush under the weight of an airplane and slow or stop it.

But really think about who who pays for these type of damages? The tax payers. I really think the campaign should pay for their damage to the runway.

What is wrong with the pilot(s)? The young reporter on Rachel Maddow last night said that they have several pilots who rotate shifts - can they all be unqualified to fly? Is Trump in charge of hiring these guys?

Maybe all the pilots are being stiffed on their paychecks and this is their way of getting revenge...

9. Maybe the pilots were not properly trained on this plane?
Fri Oct 28, 2016, 10:58 AM

I am not a pilot, but it stands to reason that if different pilots were bouncing the landings that it is a training issue. Mechanical issues could be involved, but shouldn't properly trained pilots recognize if the controls are not responding properly on landing and call for a maintenance check on the plane before taking off again?

12. Bounced landings really aren't all that unusual.

Even very experienced pilots occasionally bounce on on. They can be caused by a lot of things, like a sudden change in the wind. A very hard landing, or one that causes a tail strike, would require an inspection, but in most cases the only result is an embarrassed pilot. Modern airplanes are extremely sturdy.
