the infamous David Plouffe video (from the Ed Show?) that has so many DUers' hair on fire?
I suspect that he used a phrase like: "Since the gop is coming to the table accepting revenue enhancements, we must take a look at 'entitlements'." Or, "Since the gop is willing to accept revenue enhancements, we can talk about 'entitlements'."
{Which BTW is a great negotiating position.}
Which DUers, naturally translate into: "See, I told you President Obama is going to gut Medicare, Medicaid and S.S."
{... Hint to Hair On Fires: Saying publicly that something/everything is "on the table" does not mean that one intends do anything with what you place there; but it does give the public that you are bargaining in good faith ... something that will gain currency, if/when the negotiations fail.}
Thanking you in advance.

(11,464 posts)fresh face means one doesn't like President Obama
why else would anyone want a "fresh face" in 2016?
You would think a Bush just won the 2012 election not our President Obama.
I would recommend all see "Lincoln" the movie and realize that sometimes moving forward means letting the other side have a little respect and sliding more through than one would have, by letting the other side leave with their dignity in tact.
Something people don't seem to understand in so quickly parsing wrongly President Obama or one of his spokespeople.
(they also don't seem to realize that it was his coattails that led to the senate having 56 votes instead of losing the senate, and making some gains in the house.
Without President Obama there would be nothing today but heartache.
Yet ...
It's so sad.
BTW, Ed and Rachel and everyone but Rev. Al Sharpton, showed their true colors after the first debate. Their egos wouldn't let them shut up.
Only Rev. Al has day in day out defended President Obama and seen the big long term picture of everything.

(22,651 posts)Wouldn't it be something if in 2016 President Obama runs as a state Governor. We could use him in Texas

(24,096 posts)I went from deep respect for them to plummeting dislike after that stupid show they put on.
Still can't stand watching them, but do tune in once in a while (whereas before I had the tv noise in the background on msnbc a large part of the day).
As you said, Rev Al is the only one who didn't play that stupidity game and I respect the man more for that.
Don't have the tv on last couple days, to that channel, but I bet they are freaking out about 'caving' all over again.
assholes.

What Plouffe said regarding entitlements (1:15:33):
(1:17:45)
Republicans are going to have to do some tough things and get mercilessly criticized by Grover Norquist on the right. Democrats are going to have to do some tough things on spending on entitlements that will be criticized on their left.
That's it ... That's all he said on entitlement spending. All 2 minutes and 12 seconds of it.
But guess since he used the words "spending", "cuts" and "entitlements" in the same paragraph, one COULD, if you try real hard, have Plouffe saying that that President Obama (really Democrats in Congress) were going to cut Medicare/Medicaid ... But you would have to forget/ignore HOW President Obama has said that he planned to cut spending on these programs (and it didn't involve cutting benefits or raising premiums, i.e., "gutting entitlements."
