Related: About this forumAnybody hear this: CNN panelist/reporter said that Huma said she didn't know what the e-mails were..
or how they got on Anthony's computer. What??
Comey, you got some 'splaining to do.

(5,943 posts)These people were trying to work but apparently not even provided with good equipment or good technical support.
Give the people a freaking printer already. They shouldn't be forced to print at home.

(7,768 posts)"Top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin has told people she is unsure how her emails could have ended up on a device she viewed as her husbands computer, the seizure of which has reignited the Clinton email investigation, according to a person familiar with the investigation and civil litigation over the matter.
The person, who would not discuss the case unless granted anonymity, said Abedin was not a regular user of the computer, and even when she agreed to turn over emails to the State Department for federal records purposes, her lawyers did not search it for materials, not believing any of her messages to be there.
That could be a significant oversight if Abedins work messages were indeed on the computer of her estranged husband, former congressman Anthony Weiner, who is under investigation for allegedly exchanging lewd messages with a 15-year-old girl. So far, it is unclear what if any new, work-related messages were found by authorities. The person said the FBI had not contacted Abedin about its latest discovery, and she was unsure what the bureau had discovered."

Are they even state department related emails? They could be emails to her mom, baking recipes, her fantasy football draft cheatsheet....

(1,060 posts)People don't think of those things
There probably should be stricter policies about what machines can access government servers and how they are set up
Seems those that need unconventional access like high ranking people are left to fend for themselves. There should be technical guys assigned to them to make their lives easier and they should invest in tech to modernize things

(67 posts)First, people should understand that Weiner's computer did not get messages from Hillary's server. Huma forwarded long messages to her personal email account (Yahoo, Gmail, something like that) in order to print them out at home. The reason she did so is explained in this Politico article. None of that stuff was classified.
So how did Huma's email end up on Weiner's computer without Huma's knowledge? It's possible that there was an accidental syncing, but I have an even simpler explanation.
A number of stories have stated that the computer was originally Huma's; she gave it to her husband. There is no reason to believe that she used it after she turned it over to him. However -- and this is the key point everyone keeps missing -- THE BROWSER WOULD HAVE STORED HER PASSWORD.
Look at the situation from Anthony Weiner's point of view. As everyone knows, he had given that woman ample reason to divorce him. Naturally, he would be curious to see if she was talking to her friends about the Big D. (He also may have wondered if she had found out about his latest online paramours.)
And right there, on his personal computer, was Huma's username and password. The temptation to check her email account must have been overwhelming.
Slimey? Of course. But let's be honest -- millions of spouses have done the same thing. (He could even have used that laptop to check her email after they were no longer living together. People do that.)
The moment he "hacked" into her email, the messages on her account would have been stored locally -- and Huma would have had no idea.
Can anyone see a flaw in my reasoning?

(7,768 posts)My ex was checking my e-mail (as I was in the process of separating) until I found out and had to change my password.
I'm hanging on to my seat now.
