WaPo Editorial - Donald Trump "Represents a Danger to the Republic."

Nice editorial that reviews some of the biggest Donald Trump whoppers. Of course, WaPo itself jumped on the bandwagon with the Comey letter announcing a whole lot of innuendo, but this is still a good article.

“If I decide to run for office, I’ll produce my tax returns, absolutely.”

This lie is emblematic, for two reasons. First, Mr. Trump’s refusal to release his returns is an unprecedented sign of contempt for voters; every major-party nominee of the modern era has respected this basic norm of transparency.

Second, this early lie presaged a campaign built on lies. Mr. Trump went on to deceive about almost everything else: whether American Muslims celebrated the destruction of the World Trade Center in 2001, whether he opposed the invasion of Iraq, whether he mocked a disabled reporter, whether his tax plan would benefit him, whether accusations from women he groped have been debunked, and so on and on and endlessly on.

Most politicians are caught in falsehoods from time to time. Mr. Trump revels in them, and when caught simply repeats the lie, more loudly. Similarly, he trades in conspiracy theories that he must know to be false, the more lurid the better: that President Obama was born in Kenya, that Vincent Foster and Antonin Scalia were murdered, that Ted Cruz’s father was involved in the assassination of President Kennedy. The campaign even lies about his initial lie, denying that Mr. Trump ever promised to release his returns.

of a Trump presidency in Las Vegas today. She asked various groups.."if you're Latino" or a Muslim, or gay, or a woman, or disabled...etc. and she went on to explain how it would affect their lives. She made it very personal; she was on fire, but it was a thoughtful fire.

6. I'm trying to back away a bit from this... get some perspective

but basically not think too much about it, since it is out of our hands. Plus, I'm still reasonably confident Hillary will pull it off.

My biggest gripe is actually the people are so convinced she's done something wrong and want to convict her right now, even putative lefties.

9. They're good... looking at the comments section is scary though

The Republicans' distrust of the media leads them to be very uninformed. Yet they think the Dems are the ones brainwashed by the media because the Republicans believe there is some liberal media conspiracy that they have no evidence for. It is sick as all hell. We can't get through to them because they don't believe in our facts. They think liberals make up facts to suit their agenda. No, that would be the Republicans that do that. Which side of this is the most angry and violent? That would be the Republicans. The Democrats aren't trying to push anything nearly as hard as the Republicans have been. I wish these people could just take a step back and with a clear head look at both sides. It isn't possible though and unfortunately a lot of the Republicans aren't capable of that sort of reflection. It is a very sad state this country is in. These people won't change until bad shit happens to them personally and even then they might not ever. Perhaps the best we can do is to make sure the children get a good education and stop the cycle of ignorance and hate that we are on.
