Post-ABC Tracking poll finds race tied, as Trump opens up an 8-point edge on honesty

I saw this on WaPo and my brain simply failed to compute. It was seriously in danger of going into a feedback loop, overheating, and completely shutting down. WTF?? 8% more people thing Trump is more honest than Hillary? Did I just slip into some sort of Kafkaesque alternate reality? I checked and it wasn't labeled comedy or satire or anything like that. Rod Serling much have come back to torment us.

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are tied in the new Washington Post-ABC News Tracking Poll, which finds Trump now holds an edge on which candidate is honest and trustworthy.

A 59 percent majority of likely voters disapprove of Clinton's handling of questions about her use of personal email while secretary of state. This number, however, is no higher than the 60 percent who disapproved just over one week ago, before the FBI's announcement Friday that it may examine additional emails after previously closing its investigation in June.

However, Trump has opened up an eight-point advantage over Clinton on which candidate is more honest and trustworthy, leading 46 to 38 percent among likely voters. The two candidates were tied on this measure the last time a Post-ABC poll asked the question in September; when asked individually, past polls found majorities seeing each candidate as dishonest.

...his saying all sorts of crazy shit, as if he doesn't care what people think about it, with honesty. It doesn't matter even if he's contradicting himself from five minutes ago in the same speech, they don't care. It's a stupid purely style-based assessment of supposed honesty.

Add on top of that that "there's something shifty about Hillary" is the media's narrative, it's the framing they won't let go when reporting almost any Clinton story.

The poll could be crappy too -- but whatever the actually percentage is here, way too many people are somehow shockingly blind to how blazingly dishonest Trump is.

While it is obvious by the high-level of discourse from most of the posters here on DU, we seem to be among the few in this country who have the ability to discern fact from fiction. It amazed me how easy it was to do some very basic research, and find the entire chronology of the "email scandal" to show my brother-in-law. And now, Hillary will be getting another repub vote. Why can't more people put some time and effort into such a big decision?
