People: What You Need to Know About the Donald Trump Rape Lawsuit

An attorney helping an anonymous California woman accusing Donald Trump in a federal lawsuit of raping her in the ’90s when she was 13 announced that the woman would go public for the first time Wednesday.

But as the press conference was about to begin in the California offices of attorney Lisa Bloom, Bloom called it off, citing threats to the plaintiff, known in court papers as Jane Doe.

“Jane Doe has received numerous threats today … She has decided she is too afraid to show her face,” Bloom said, according to the tweets of MSNBC/NBC reporter Irin Carmon. “We’re going to have to reschedule. I apologize to all of you who came. I have nothing further.”

Two hours later, Bloom, the daughter of renowned women’s rights lawyer Gloria Allred, tweeted: “Our firm’s website was reportedly hacked today, as well as emails. Anonymous claims responsibility.”

As this story continues to develop, here’s everything you should know about Trump’s accuser and the rape lawsuit she’s filed against him:

Jane Doe accuses Trump of raping her during the summer of 1994 when she was 13, allegedly in the home of Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted pedophile also named in the lawsuit.

She also claims that: “Immediately following this rape, Defendant Trump threatened me that, were I ever to reveal any of the details of Defendant Trump’s sexual and physical abuse of me, my family and I would be physically harmed if not killed.”

Alan Garten, vice president and general counsel for the Trump Organization, did not return a call for comment to PEOPLE. But Garten has repeatedly and vehemently denied the allegations, telling the New York Daily News they were “categorically untrue, completely fabricated and politically motivated.”

Jane Doe’s legal team has been beefed up in the last few weeks, with the additions of high-profile Florida defense attorney Cheney Mason (Casey Anthony’s co-counsel), and veteran New Jersey civil litigation attorney Evan Goldman, according to court filings. Bloom is handling the media aspects of the case since both she and the plaintiff are on the West Coast, Goldman tells PEOPLE.

5. CNN vs People

CNN viewership averages about 1/2 million (600,000 in prime time). People Magazine's circulation is 5-7 million and monthly website hits are into into the tens of millions. Too late for print, but the website article might get millions of hits.

There are only 5 days left. TV news would be better right now, IMO. People is good, but TV would be better.

But I would guess that People attracts those who wouldn't ordinarily watch TV news. Right now, the story link is way too low on the main web page to get many hits.

because it probably reaches more deeply into Trump's base. Because of the Natasha Stoynoff case, about one of their own, PEOPLE editorial seems to be ready to take on Trump, good for them.

I believe her story even though she is not educated and clearly they took advantage of young teens.

Should be a jail sentence for sure if it could be proved that Trump was there.

(There are so many things to go after Trump on - FBI, Russia, mob, business practices, swindler, etc - I'm not ready to jump on this wagon yet. From VOX - with first paragraphs quoted)

http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2016/11/3/13501364/trump-rape-13-year-old-lawsuit-katie-johnson-allegation

Trump really is facing a lawsuit for child rape. But the anonymous plaintiff has been elusive, and the circumstances around the lawsuit are bizarre.

Fifteen women have now gone on record to say that Donald Trump sexually assaulted them. Out of all of their stories, one is the most explosive and bizarre — a woman who says Trump violently raped her at an orgy when she was just 13 years old. But the horrific details of her accusation have gotten the least attention.

It seemed like that was all going to change yesterday, when the woman, who has gone by the pseudonyms “Katie Johnson” and “Jane Doe,” was set to appear at a press conference at the law offices of Lisa Bloom, a high-profile civil rights attorney and TV commentator. But the woman didn’t come to the press conference. Bloom told a room full of waiting reporters that Johnson was afraid to show her face after receiving multiple death threats, and that they would have to reschedule.

It’s certainly not uncommon for victims of sexual assault to want to preserve their anonymity. But the canceled press conference was the latest strange development in a very strange case. That case features an anonymous plaintiff who has refused almost all requests for interviews, two anonymous corroborating witnesses whom no one in the press has spoken to, and a couple of seriously shady characters — with an anti-Trump agenda and a penchant for drama — who have aggressively shopped the story around to media outlets for over a year.

She probably has PTSD and the location of the press conference was crowded and filled with people with cameras and microphones.

Sorry, but I'm not buying it.

And now they're throwing "Maria" the twelve year old girl Trump raped and then "made to disappear" into the mix?

So he's not only a violent pedophile rapist but murders children as well? C'mon.
