Related: About this forumTrump to be impeached by Repugs so Pense can be Pres - says Rush - says
a Republican family member. I personally did not hear this, so I am repeating hearsay. But, it certainly sounds reasonable, because the Republicans can't stand him.
I think this is why the child rape stuff is not getting that much publicity. If he wins, it can be used immediately to not let him even get into the White House.

(15,438 posts)that they don't like - and they don't like Trump. They LOVE them sum Pence, though.
All they have to do is get the Tangerine Glob elected...and the Hillary-Haters within the F.B.I. are working hard at 'leaking' everything they can find to make that happen.
We can now make an educated guess why Republicans are so pissed off she had a private server rather than an easily hacked State Department account - given that Russia has hacked the State Department already - and why they're demanding every single e-mail from it.

(108,978 posts)Just the vehicle to secure them a victory, and then they can get rid of him in favor of their right-wing evangelical -- the one who'd never have gotten elected on their own.

(4,112 posts)This would be their endgame. You think we women have it tough now? Pence has all but said that women shouldn't be allowed out of the house. The ultimate dominionist misogynist.

Think about it, please, on every level it is cray cray.

(3,163 posts)If the Republicans have some trick up their sleeves just to install Pence as President then I don't see the Dems playing along with it.

(209 posts)If they think Trump and his handlers would allow Trump to be impeach...they are "deadly" mistaken...I think they would be met with unfortunate accidents..Putin is not going let the US slip through his fingers so easily.

(8,923 posts)Trump actually followed his rhetoric in office and didn't sign Ryan's legislation - that he would be bounced in lightning fashion to make room for their boy Pence - who will sign everything.

Sorceress
(309 posts)The Repubs were confident that Trump would be their puppet. Jr.'s remarks to Kasich that should he accept the VP nom, he would be responsible for foreign and domestic policy, seem to support their belief that Trump would be willing to hand off the reins. But should Trump prove uncooperative, they would simply impeach him. It's a win-win for them.

(5,443 posts)The idea being if you hate Trump but are conservative you can safely vote the GOP ticket. Btw, it would not likely happen unless they really caught Trump with something bad, since the core set of Trump supporters are rabid and would end the political careers of those who attempted impeachment.

bornskeptic
(1,330 posts)If Trump were to be impeached, it would require 67 votes in the Senate to remove him from office, so Republicans would need Democratic help. As much as we all hate Trump, Senate Democrats wouldn't go along with letting Pence sneak into the presidency and run as an incumbent in 2020. But, fortunately, Hillary is going to win, so that situation will never come up.

(4,139 posts)Senate and House Dems would not want to get tarred with being supporters of Trump in their re-election bids when the entire GOP went against him.
Silent3
(15,216 posts)...in terms of policy, Supreme Court, etc., he's not so dangerously unstable, vindictive, narcissistic, and ignorant as Trump. It would be an utter dereliction of duty for a Democrat to not join in an effort to oust Trump.

(4,139 posts)The Republicans hate Trump and don't want him to be President. Getting him elected is a way of getting Pence in through the back door. This is why few GOP Senators and Congressmen have repudiated Trump and those that did are now back on board. There's a quid pro quo that Trump will be dumped at the first opportunity.

(1,004 posts)Everyone, except for the scummiest deplorables, knows that Trump is human garbage. But they can't vote for Hitlery or Killery or whatever they call her. And a vote for Johnson/McMullin is a vote for Hellary. So they are now inventing justifications for voting Trump.
This is actually an amazing justification, and I'm a kind of impressed with it. I mean, it's top-tier lying-to-yourself you don't see very often.
