The Repubs were confident that Trump would be their puppet. Jr.'s remarks to Kasich that should he accept the VP nom, he would be responsible for foreign and domestic policy, seem to support their belief that Trump would be willing to hand off the reins. If Trump were to be impeached, it would require 67 votes in the Senate to remove him from office, so Republicans would need Democratic help. As much as we all hate Trump, Senate Democrats wouldn't go along with letting Pence sneak into the presidency and run as an incumbent in 2020. But, fortunately, Hillary is going to win, so that situation will never come up.

Everyone, except for the scummiest deplorables, knows that Trump is human garbage. But they can't vote for Hitlery or Killery or whatever they call her. And a vote for Johnson/McMullin is a vote for Hellary. So they are now inventing justifications for voting Trump.
