GOPer Steve Schmidt blisters Comey: No director ‘has done more damage’ to FBI’s reputation

GOPer Steve Schmidt blisters Comey: No director ‘has done more damage’ to FBI’s reputation
BRAD REED 04 NOV 2016 AT 10:39 ET

Republican strategist Steve Schmidt absolutely tore into FBI Director James Comey on Friday, and told MSNBC that no director in recent memory has done as much to harm its reputation as an institution.

During his interview, Schmidt ripped Comey as an egomaniac who has put his own public image ahead of doing what’s right for both the FBI and the country.

“Comey put himself in a box because nothing has higher primacy in the mind of James Comey than his own image,” said Schmidt. “Because of that, he’s brought profound, profound discreditation upon the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He put his image ahead of the institution.”

for Schmidt. He makes no bones about his chosen political affiliation but refuses to compromise generally understood norms of behavior and social comportment in order to back Trump.

on TV. He loathes Trump, I believe he is a NeverTrumper.

After the 3rd debate, he said Trump's failure to say he would concede (cries of "rigged system&quot if he lost was a direct threat to democracy and what the founding fathers stood for: "Fascism rose in the 1930's not because it was strong, but because democracy was weak."

In this election cycle, it's sad to say, but the NeverTrump type Repubs (Schmidt, Wallace, Navarro, Hoover, Wilson) have been far more effective at taking down Trump than most of our Dem surrogates - with the exception of people like Carville, Plouffe, Dean and Maria Cardona.

With their party (country) in the thrall of a crazed fascist monster named Trump (Hitler), these staunch conservative influential figures make a stand, however late and somewhat hypocritical against the madness to salvage some shred of honor for the Republican Party (Germany).
