2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI'm wondering if the Russians are monitoring DU.
I went to the other site Jpr and it occurred to me that the Russians may be instrumental in firing them up over there or at least monitoring their discourse. Jpr really is quite pro Trump when all is said and done. Given Russia's huge interest and investment in the outcome of this election, I'm assuming they are keeping an eye on sites like ours as well. In addition to hacking and planting stories in the media via Wikileaks, I'm sure they have their hands in lots of pots right about now.

(2,208 posts)Those Russkies know how vital we are to American politics.
DU is a virtual epicenter of political influence. I hear that Putin logs in here himself, and if you look closely at some of the pictures that EarlG posted from the convention you can see Pootie Poot in the background eyeballing him. He's easy to spot since he isn't wearing a shirt.
Sorry, just joking.
Seriously though, who knows.
It's not like Russkie internet trolls are going to change a lot of opinions here. DU is true blue, baby.

I think Putin mostly lurks on DU.
Though, it's rumored that he posts about judo and bareback horse riding in the Sports Forum.

They just used the phrase "useful idiots", and we all know that's spymaster-talk.
I know this, I watched the movie Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Loved the song at the end too where Smiley is put back in charge of the circus and he's walking into work. What was it called... googling... "Le Mer", english title "Somewhere beyond the Sea"

(15,262 posts)No, Russia is monitoring the US military in the Middle East, politicians in Ukraine, etc.
Wow, talk about an inflated sense of importance. No one on the other side of the world cares what we post to each other in an ephemeral discourse site where every comment sinks into oblivion a few minutes.

(409 posts)spot. Their accounts are nothing but pro-Trump/Russian tweets/retweets. They pretend to be American and usually have just one picture and no sign of communication between friends or family. They comment on pretty much every Trump/Hillary tweet or hashtag. One of them sent me a very long DM just the other day trying to "help" me, by letting me know that the media is brainwashing all of us to think that Russia is bad, when really they're the only ones trying to help us. The guy claimed to be a factory worker from Wisconsin, but it was easy to tell by the things he was saying in DM that he was just pushing Russian propaganda. For those who aren't aware of these trolls, they would just seem like another deplorable Trump supporter.
