has apparently cost a seat or two ...

That was my biggest concern, I figured it would hit Hill, but she was solid enough to weather it and still win.

But, those senate races that would get to 50/50 or better where SO close ...

7. Bayh should have won Indiana, but is running behind. There has been zero Clinton effort in Indiana.

That's the big difference. Indiana has a tradition of straight party voting and there has been no resistance to Trump. I think Clinton has one little office and zero events.

8. This would give Hillary the ability to appoint judges and get them passed the Senate.

In fact, if they numbers turn out this way I can see the Senate jumping in and confirming Garland as SC judge. They know who Garland is, they don't know who Hillary will nominate.

20. Assuming that the republicans can't fillibuster.
Sun Nov 6, 2016, 01:53 PM
Nov 2016

The first order of business for the democratic senate should be to eliminate (at least) the judicial fillibuster. (I'd be in favor of getting rid of the whole damn thing, it's done more harm than good...) There shouldn't be any threats about doing it, discussion, negotiation, or compromise. Just do it, end of story. The republicans have given us ample evidence that they do not intend to operate in good faith.

But it's better than staying in the minority.

Tim Kaine will be spending more time on Capitol Hill than he probably envisioned.

I know the numbers are tight but its such a strong Trump demographic state that I think the presidential race will carry Blunt.
