Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) yelled at a House staffer after catching her riding on a "members only" elevator, The Hill reports.

Said Foxx: "This is a 'members-only' elevator; can you read?. Get out here. What does this sign say? It says, 'Members of Congress only.'"

The staffer attempted to point out that the sign next to it stated, "during votes," which is when Foxx started yelling, "Members only!" as she pointed to signs.

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) took on a unique enemy during a radio interview yesterday: people with student loans.

Though many politicians sympathize with those who are saddled with exorbitant student debt, Foxx, who chairs the House subcommittee on higher education, had a different take. Appearing on G. Gordon Liddy’s radio show, the North Carolina congresswoman recounted her own experience paying for college, where she worked her way through and graduated after seven years. Foxx then pointed to her own experience as justification for why she has “very little tolerance for people who tell me that they graduate with $200,000 of debt or even $80,000 of debt.” “There’s no reason for that,” she concluded:

According to UNC's website, a year at her alma mater currently costs $22,340 for a NC resident. You would have to be a very special person to do today what she did then - because what she did was live at home until graduation and work one year full-time, study one year full-time, work a year, study a year...in the 1960s when tuition was low you could do that. Now you need a degree to get the $25/hour job you'll need to have to pull it off.

She looks down on people who don't do what she did even though you can't do that anymore. Nice lady.

35. Being an elected member of Congress does not mean you can treat staffers like shit

Though I am sure many of them do. You are elected by the people, the staffers are not slaves. There is no law from using that elevator, especially when the regular one was being occupied by furniture movers and the members only one can be used when votes are not happening. What a nut.
