2016 Postmortem

I think this an opportune time to recognize those who have contributed to our imminent victory.
So a BIG thank you to
Those who canvassed door-to-door, phone banked, and volunteered their time and energy to GOTV efforts across the country.
Those who used their social media accounts to spread the good word about Hillary and our Party, and to counter the falsehoods being spread by our political adversaries.
Those who donated money to Democratic campaigns especially those who gave up some creature comforts in order to donate more than they might be in a position to easily afford. They were a constant reminder of just how important this election is to all of us.
Those who kept us positive when negative news seemed at times so overwhelming. They never wavered in their optimism, or their commitment to ensuring that we all keep our eyes on the prize.
Those who posted cartoons, jokes, and anecdotes that made us laugh throughout this long, and often arduous journey. They united us with a sense of humour that kept our spirits high, and our enthusiasm even higher.
Those who posted uplifting stories about our candidate when the media was busy spreading every negative story they could dredge-up. Such stories kept us focused not only on WHO we are electing, but WHY we are so determined to see Hillary as our next president.
Those who shared their personal stories about their success in changing the mind and the vote of a family member, a neighbour, a friend from undecided/third party/Trump to HRC. No doubt it inspired many to do the same.
Those who reached out to hold the hand of people who experienced anxiety or doubt about our chances to succeed in this election. It was always inspiring to see fellow Democrats assuring each other that our efforts to elect HRC were solid, real, and would not be deterred.
Those who kept us apprised of ever-changing polls, and other news that confirmed our ability to WIN. They reminded us daily that the horse-race propaganda spewed by the MSM was often completely contrary to the facts on the ground.
Those who voted, convinced others to vote, and helped those who needed assistance in order to register and vote. As in every election cycle, they are truly the unsung heroes among us.
Those who countered the smears, the misrepresentations, and the out-and-out lies of the forces set against us in every way they could.
Those who championed not only our top-of-the-ticket players, but also the down-ticket Democrats running for office because every (D) in office is important.
And, of course, a BIG thank you to those who kept DU free of right-wing trolls: those who stayed vigilant and alerted on their posts, and the MIRT members who kicked the garbage to the curb with what was often dizzying speed.
Well done all around, DU well done!
