1. The much maligned Electoral College was based on preventing the Trumps of the world

getting in to power.

2. it was really designed to let the southern states

have it both ways- to count their slaves, who couldnt vote, in their population figures, at the 3/5's discount.
the part about keeping an eye on elections was the cover story, is what it looks like to me.

at least there is some interesting reporting out there about the real purpose of the college, and it's future.

3. As it is, it may be for the best

If Hillary Clinton gets in there will be 4 years of fake scandals, impeachments, obstruction and nothing will get done. She will be blamed. With Trump, the republicans will see a clear path to harming many Americans. They are republicans and they will over-play their card. Perhaps to the point where in 2018 the democratic party (which by then hopefully will have fixed itself) can motivate a sufficient number of people to vote.

Elections have consequences and many people are about to find out just what that means.

I always think that the Germans paid a terrible price for allowing Hitler in.
