2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumRe-visiting the "Hack"...
MSNBC just had a guest on air with Chuck F Todd and they were discussing cyber security. They showed a clip of Michael Rogers, the person at the NSA that is in charge of cyber security.
He said that it was not an individual player but a "nation-state". He never said Russia but insinuated as much.
Was it an individual "player" that hit DU or a "nation-state". It is difficult to fathom that Russia or another country would think DU was important enough to hack? But the timing was perfect.
If it was not Russia that hit the DNC and DU, could it have been someone working with the Trump campaign? I don't doubt that they would do it if they had the capability?
Any further thoughts about this?

(24,760 posts)here was terrifying. Glad I didn't see it. My experience was I dutifully signed in to renew my star membership early in the day because I read here that was the way to avoid being locked out for anticipated heavy traffic that night (11/8). When I tried to sign in around 6 PM PST this site was down.
It was an eerie start to the night and perhaps the reason why I saw what was going on before my invited party guests did. I felt like it was a message. I panicked and left my own party to literally hide under the covers till my husband finally came to bed and confirmed what I already knew.
Did DKos or any other progressive sites experience a hack that night?
I have 3 mid-range bottles of un-drunk champagne that will chill until the next Democratic Prez is elected. I'm hoping for Liz and Bernie.

(4,640 posts)as to the next election, Bernie will be too old, and besides, he's NOT a Democrat.

(15,262 posts)on election day and the exit polls show a massive red shift in battleground states that determined the outcome of the Presidency and the Senate.
Move along, nothing to see here. So what if 11 of 20 states in 2016 have a larger red shift than any state did in 2004, all way beyond the margin of error. Corporations counting ballots in secret can't possible present a problem. Just move along and don't think about it.
Remember when exit polls were only off by a couple of percent, now it's well over 12%.
In 2004, not one state over 5% red shift. In 2016, 11 of 20 states over 5% red shift.
Remember how bent out of shape everyone was in 2004 when exit polls in Ohio were off by a whopping 3.65 percent?
Remember when outside of margin of error was of significance? Well, statistics hasn't changed even if the world became stupid.
How do you say WTF? How frikking stupid do you have to be to believe this has a valid explanation within the bounds of statistics?
