Another thing we need to figure out before 2020
In reading the article about the voters/non-voters in Milwaukee, I was struck by the gentleman who said that a female relative was urging him to vote for Hillary, while a male relative was urging him to vote for Trump.
Below are the exit poll numbers from cnnpolitics.com; they are the percentages of each group that voted for Trump. I'm struck by the differential between black males and black females when it came to voting for Trump v. Clinton, and I'm wondering what accounts for it. Is it sexism? Is it that black men saw something in Trump that they liked (unrelated to gender)? Is it a combination?
Please note that I didn't look at every state; I did look at CA, and they had N/A for black voters across the board, and I wanted to check MD as well, but there were no exit polls showing for MD. I noted that NY is the only state of the ones I checked where black men voted in a higher percentage for Clinton than did black women.
Also please note that this is NOT intended to point fingers or lay blame, but rather to point out that we as a party have much more reaching out to do, and the sooner we start, the better.
