Note to Poker Players ...

Last edited Fri Dec 21, 2012, 11:34 AM - Edit history (1)

If President Obama raises pre-flop => Fold unless holding Ace/King Suited ... He has the cards.

If President Obama calls pre-flop => worry ... He probably has the card.

If President Obama Checks pre-flop => Run from the f'ing table!

I think that our president knows the system, the players, what's wrong with both, an how to fix things.

If he says it, I'll do it.

Strike on the gates of hell? I'll get the rucks and the BBQ sauce.

And he's not shy to take their advice.

I think that is Obama's secret weapon - he doesn't trip over his ego. He will do what he thinks is best no matter where the suggestion comes from.

That's a mature person. Not many like that around so he stands out like a healed thumb.

In 2008, I told some of my students that I figured our country had a choice between Cyberpubk and New Deal mark II.

I'm glad we choose the FDR reincarnation.

Take a look at who we've got on tap...

Hillary Clinton
Julian Castro

Who do the GOP have?

Maybe 2012 IS the end of the world...for the GOP.

you can't check pre-flop. you probably meant "limps in".

you probably also didn't mean "calls pre-fold", though that's an interesting slip!

you can't check pre-flop? When you're at Big Blind ... Checking completely hides your hand.

But yeah, I meant pre-flop not pre-fold.

And if President Obama limped in, pre-flop, I'd worry.

Live action, in a casino at the $10-$20 or No Limit tables. Anything below that and you get people on the river playing Jack-Deuce off suit.

I stopped playing the lower tables when one evening, I was playing at a $2-4 table of 8.

I was dealt K-spades/Jack-Spades, I was on the button. The bets went: Check, Check, 2, then Call around.

The Flop: K-Diamonds/Jack-Heart/2-Spades. The bet went: Check, Check, 4, raise 4, then Call around.
(I'm in a great spot! Top two pair, 3 to a flush and following a bettor and a raiser)

The turn: 3-Diamonds/10-Clubs/Ace-Spades. The bets went: Check, Check, 4, raise 4, raise 4, capped, then call around
(I'm worried; but still solid ... two strong pair, 4 to a flush,)

The River: 3-Clubs. The bets went: Check, Check, 4, rasie 4, raise 4, capped, then call around.

The 2 Seat won the hand with Trip 3s and 9-Hearts. My two pair was second best.

How the hell are you calling on the flop with garbage? How the hell are you raising on the turn with a pair of threes?

That was my last time at a low stakes table. They weren't playing Poker, they were buying cards and hoping!

i sometimes play at a home game, $1/$2 no limit typical buy-in is $200, but one guy usually buys in for $600. sees easily 90% of flops. given what we all know he plays one wonders what hands he doesn't. $600 is real money to the rest of us but this guy's a millionaire and he'd much rather lose 9 times out of 10 for the one great story he gets when he hits.

in the long run he loses money, but on any night he can and has wiped me out after 3 hands.

in your story -- 3 cards on the turn? i'm confused, we play 3 on the flop, then one each on the turn and river. in any even i see your point and am very familiar with that sort of thing. worse thing is it's teaching me bad poker because i'll call with bluff-catchers far more often than i theoretically should....

I wrote that before my coffee kicked in.

I combined two different experiences ... same thing occurred; someone that won the pot when they should have folded pre-flop.
