Statement By Senator Reid's Spokesman

Washington, D.C. – Adam Jentleson, spokesman for Nevada Senator Harry Reid, released the following statement tonight:

“It is now clear that to protect the middle class from the fiscal cliff, Speaker Boehner must allow a bill to pass with a combination of Democratic and Republican votes. Speaker Boehner’s partisan approach wasted an entire week and pushed middle-class families closer to the edge. The only way to avoid the cliff altogether is for Speaker Boehner to return to negotiations, and work with President Obama and the Senate to forge a bipartisan deal.”

The chained-CPI has been in the news.

It's a topic of conversation in DC and elsewhere throughout the country.

It's important to middle-class Americans and formerly middle-class Americans. Yet, Reid's reference to "middle class" only refers to his perception that "Speaker Boehner must allow a bill to pass with a combination of Democratic and Republican votes."

He said nothing about opposing the plan to reduce SS by Obama to initiate a chained-CPI. Nothing at all.
