Tho I don't want to take away all guns just the assault rifles and the extended magazines (anything high capacity).

I do not buy the NRA's definition of assault rifles either. They don't get to define what a assault weapon is. Assholes.

hurting my dog than I would be someone hurting me.

If your dog is aggressive enough to be useful for protection, chances are he/she is going to be aggressive enough that if he/she gets out and bites someone you'll get your ass sued off.

A better suggestion might be "Stop being a chickenshit" if you live in a relatively safe area or "Get bars for your windows and a reinforced door" if you don't. Doesn't matter how malevolent a person's intentions are if it takes thirty minutes and a cutting torch to get in.

WEll, that's the reason for this whole embarassing phenom:
Fear.
A great portion of our populace is ruled by fear.
Fear; that's why they vote for loud, bombastic, senseless politicians:
they believe th bullies will take care of them.
Fear: that's why they scream 'freedom' when anyone disagrees with
them or suggests a change in some kind of public arena.
Fear: they are scared of their shadows, and think weapons
will take care of them.
These are the same pitiful folks who scream about prayer in school
and 'war on christmas.'
These are the same who want to live in a theocracy..
Fear?
If you're so christian, why are you afraid?
I guess the god you want us all to cower before
isn't much of a god... if you're so danged afraid all the time.
Pitiful.
We do we bother with them?
