NRA weasel dick Wayne Lapierre suggests putting police in every school

If they were paid it would cost nearly $5 billion to provide police in every public school. Probably much more because it wouldn't be enough to just have one person in many schools. There are nearly 100,000 public schools and over 30,000 private schools.

Apparently, weasel dick's plan is to have armed volunteers provide the security. Really?

3. It's likely going to happen...and they will have to pay. I have no problem

with that.

There are 300,000,000 taxable firearms and god knows how much ammo. The money is there long before we get to the cold, dead hands level. And it will require at least 2 per school. Private schools and Charter schools are on their own. Watch them grow...quickly. It will be an unintended circumstance, and I'd guess it's already happening. School funding decreases as kids leave.

4. That's along the lines of what I was thinking of

The NRA doesn't seem to be even considering the financial costs of their suggestion, it's just "throw everything against the wall and see what sticks to make them look the other way". When you consider all the cuts to education in recent years to, that farther raises the point of how the NRA proposes even paying for their 'serious' suggestion of armed guards in every school.

And then like Chris Christie pointed out when turning the idea down, schools have multiple entrances and exits, so for armed guards to be effective you'd need one at every door leading outside the school, even if it's locked (doors can be broken open), which farther increases the insane costs for this.

Oh, and then what if a school decides later they need to lay some armed guards off, or all their armed guards, and the armed guards decide to shoot up a bunch of people in retaliation? It's happened before, a worker gets laid off/fired and then they start shooting everyone they can in the company that just sacked them.

6. Armed Security Guards in Schools...Nope, been there...seen that..

I taught at high schools where there were very serious problems. One armed guard was not enough. Stuff would happen in other parts of the school, the guard would get there, too late. so it would take many guards..and I saw that too. Teams of Chicago Police walking the halls in teams of two on each floor. 3 floors. all the time. For a while...a few days or weeks,..it worked...............but...
.. then it became less and less security as it always does. It has to ..there is not enough money for more than one or two full time
guards. sure..metal detectors at a door. but...you got to have people at each door to keep people from sneeking in..all the time..
Many schools have many doors..a kid and his friend sneek to a door to let the friend in..? not rocket science..maybe it would work if you had enough guards and help to watch all the doors... all the time..not enough money... ..
..I could go on and on..a dedicated nutcase can get around it...they almost always do..if they are reasonably smart. and they often are..

9. Armed Security is just fine for Obama and other DC pols

Of course nothing is perfect. Under your logic there should be no security anywhere. Why have security at airports, there will always be ways around it or gaps in the system?

All I know is that Sidwell Friends has armed security, and that's separate from the Secret Service presence.

Obama's children have had armed security at their school ever since he took office. I wouldn't be surprised if the school they went to in Chicago had armed security as well.

Why is armed security ok for Sidwell Friends but not for everyone else?

Is it only ok for parents who pay 35k a year for their kids to go somewhere?

When Sidwell Friends and all these other schools get rid of their armed security then I'd believe those who criticize the NRA for calling for secuirty in all schools, not just the expensive elite private schools.

When the President tells his SS not to protect his kids anymore, or not to use guns in the course of protecting them, then he'll have more credibliity.

I think the NRA has outlived their usefulness and it's time to disband that cult. All they do today is lobby to promote gun sales. This man is a nutcase!!

Tax the hell out of guns and ammo. No shooting except in registered taxed ranges and registered hunts. Tighten up carry permits. Just like Mexico, allow guns in the home and they stay in the home if one doesn't have a carry permit,A hunting permit or an approved shooting range permit.

It's such a horrid thing 8 children a DAY killed by guns in America. An evil thing to know the last school shooting was done in couple mins, over well before any authorities arrived. The man shot out a window and walked in.

You can't guard against that, the next guy will drive his car through a wall.

We have to ban the guns that shoot so fast and much, they kill many people a minute. Ban the elephant stopping, armor piercing ammo- that cuts children in half!
