So do you think Scott Brown might run for MA governor instead of the senate seat?

After watching "The Last Word" last night, maybe Brown will run for MA governor instead of the senate seat...He might not want to go thru another special election, then have to run for the full 6 yr term again in 2014...

I do not know, but it is a possibility.

And this may be a rerun of the Senate race, as Martha Coakley seems to be the frontrunner.

Either he's waiting for a "Draft Scott Brown" movement, or he's genuinely sick to death of campaigning and wants a breather.

I know there were polls out, but I think they were before Markey actually said he was running and was endorsed by Kerry, Vicki Kennedy, and the DSCC.

He might see that the Senate seat is tougher when he considers that he needs to run again in 2014 even if he wins. I would assume two loses in a row would make him lose the label of someone who is popular.

Elizabeth Warren-D the states soon to be senior US Senator from MA has gone and will go after the financial industry.
Edward Markey-D the near future junior US Senator from MA has gone and will go after the energy industry.
The six month interval from the moment Kerry-D resigns his seat to be the nation's chief diplomat to the moment Markey-D wins the hard fought special election against former US Senator Scott Brown-R or former 2010 Governor nominee Charlie Baker-R. MA will have to deal with Barney Frank.

The fact of the matter is that as politics have become more polarized, it's becoming harder and harder to win a US Senate seat if you're the opposite party of the vast majority of voters in your state.

I'll admit that Scott Brown is a charismatic guy and a good politician. But no amount of charisma wins when the voters are mostly from the opposite party. His election in Massachusetts happened because the stars all miraculously aligned in his favor.

So yea maybe he could win a special election this year and if everything went his way, possibly the GE next year. But there's little chance that Massachusetts is going to keep the guy in the Senate for the long term. If he has to run for re-election while a Republican President is in office next time, Massachusetts will almost certainly toss him out.

See Mitt Run... Warren should be Senator-for-life until we're annexed by New Hampshire, but Sen. Brown could be knocked off by any credibly thoughtful challenger, sort of like the rest of the country in reverse, whereas governors are expected to be political enigmas like Bill Weld, not crusaders like John Silber, and I think Brown falls into the enigma camp. But I can't really blame him for steering clear of the Boston Molasses Disaster; fighting our battles in DC is the more prestigious position since governors are basically the Mayor of Massachusetts, it's not like California where all hell would break loose without central government.
