PHILADELPHIA -- Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey said Friday that theft allegations involving Officer Gerold Gibson -- son-in-law of Gov. Tom Corbett -- were first brought to his attention in late fall by Officer Gibson's commanding officer in the Narcotics Field Unit.

(3,888 posts)He threw away a career and embarrassed his family for the proceeds derived from petty theft (at least in the incident where he was caught).
Its difficult to imagine that he needed the $140. enough to justify taking that risk.

"Officer Gibson and Mr. Corbett's daughter, Katherine, married in 2010. The couple have a 1-year-old son, but have been separated for a few months, sources said."

So, there were complaints about Gibson before he and Katherine Corbett got married? She didn't see that as a red flag?

(12,321 posts)It just seems strange that Governor Tom Corbett's family takes the stance that this is all a big surprise to them. It looks like Officer Gibson has a history of questionable behavior.
Of course, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
