But we can't take that for granted. First of all, someone may run against him and primary him, and secondly, there are at least two repukes that supposedly want the job and one of them may actually have a chance to win. Tom Latham is a so called moderate who people may rally behind, especially people in the western part of the state.
So while it'd be good to see Braley as the Junioe Senator from Iowa, we shouldn't count on it just yet. Lots of work to be done.

The Vilsacks are not running. Loesback is not running, Culver is likely to be running for Governor.
Regarding the November General- King is likely to be the GOP nominee instead of Latham.

He's Harkin's hand picked successor. But as I said, nothing is certain. He has already started fund raising. And gawd we all hope king is the republican nominee. Can you say landslide?
The fact is though, it's early 2013 and the election isn't until next year. So let's just cool it. Maybe the Representative(s) can get something done and not concentrate so much on running for office.

By PETER NICHOLAS

Sen. Mike Johanns, a first-term Republican from Nebraska, said Monday he wouldn't seek re-election in 2014, preferring to leave the stage after decades in public life and pursue what he called "a quieter time."

Mr. Johanns's office released a statement that he and his wife, Stephanie, sent to constituents giving his reasons for not running.

"With everything in life, there is a time and a season," the statement read. "At the end of this term, we will have been in public service over 32 years. Between the two of us, we have been on the ballot for primary and general elections 16 times and we have served in eight offices. It is time to close this chapter of our lives."

The senator's wife has served as a county commissioner and state senator in Nebraska, according to a spokesman for Mr. Johanns, who is 62 years old ...

Regarding Granholm- if she were to run, she becomes the nominee and defeats Amash or Miller in the November General.

of her term, perhaps for reasons not of her making -i.e., poor economy.
Perhaps now that MI has had a dose of their current governor, she'll look good in retrospect.

The class of 1984 US Senators.

Rockefeller-WV is retiring.

McConnell-KY will be the only class of 1984 US Senator left.

The class of 1978 US Senators.
Levin-MI and Cochran-MS have yet to announce their intentions.
Baucus-MT is running again and is likely to win.
