It was deliberately set up so that the only possible outcome was austerity. We were there, remember?

We were here, remember? Obama has been intimately involved in this budget debate process since the very beginning, to the point of participating in lengthy closed-door meetings and making multiple public statements and speeches about the process. For you to claim that the President was insulated from any of this decision-making absolutely defies reality.

The goal by the one percent in both parties was austerity, and we get austerity no matter what. That was the goal and purpose of the sequester and the entire manufactured crisis. The knee-jerk attempts to insulate this President from a corrupt process that is destroying our social compact and obliterating what our party is supposed to stand for in the interest of millions of Americans does not help our party. If we are going to fix the problem we face, which is a SYSTEMIC purchase and co-option of our government by corporate interests in both parties, we need to be honest about what is really happening here.
