***I'm starting a sequestration thread***.

Apparently, the effects are starting and people are posting threads who are affected. I thought we should gather them all in one place and this way we will know how DUers have been affected. When we get a crucial number of stories, I will send them to Boner and McTurtle so they know what they have done. Following are the first two I have seen. Since I won't get all of them please post the stories I have missed on this thread.

I had originally posted this in Meta hoping it would stay up long enough to gather stories, but I was told I needed to post here. So far the link below is where the discussion was left at before it was locked.

If so, what would that remedy be? I ask this because the cure could be worse than the disease.

It's about people who are being affected adversely by this or who have learned first hand how it is affecting people and institutions in their communities. I'm looking for their first person accounts.

Obama was bluffing on the sequester impact. None of the idiots clarified that sequestration doesn't go into effect until 30 days. I don't expect the average American to know this. I DO, however, expect the Corporate Media to know this important information.

of course the people in line don't know why.

I was told "budget cuts". 2-3 hour waits led to another huge messy line of people having to reschedule. Where is the media to report on this?

this morning, stating that 'due to the sequester, the NRA 500 in Texas will have not have a US Military Flyover during pre-race festivites'. Aww, shucks.

Kinda makes you wonder why those assclowns (and many other sporting events) are getting taxpayer sponsored flyovers in the first place?

At Memphis enroute ATC Center, as I'm sure are the same as every other ATC facillity in the country, are currently recieving certified letters advising that they will be furloughed one unpaid day for every 10 work days beginning in April. That amounts to a 10% pay cut.

Fri Mar 22, 2013, 06:40 AM
Mar 2013

I am a civilian working for the Department of Defense and we will be furloughed for 22 days, starting near the end of April. The plan is we will shut down every Friday. So a 20% cut in gross pay, or a 25% (or more) cut in our take home pay. A lot of my co-workers are stressing out over the loss of 25% of their pay.

As a Navy civilian employee, everyone at my command is facing 14 unpaid days starting in June and ending Sept 30. It's expected that it will take the form of 1 day every week, resulting in a 20% pay cut during that time period. Many families with children are still unsure how they will weather that loss of income. Younger employees just starting out and buying homes are the worst off, as they are still low in the pay scales and often are using most of their paycheck with low savings. DOD wide, it's expected that about 700,000 civilian employees will be furloughed.
