Why is the DSCC running so many ads to "Stand With Hillary"?

Why is the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee running so many ads to "Stand With Hillary"? I thought their job was to elect Senators. She isn't running for Senate, so what are they thinking?

Of course they're going to use any excuse they can to capitalize on that by putting her face up everywhere and get people associating Democrats with her. And there's almost certainly a little groundwork-laying for 2016 in there as well. It may not be their specific job to get the next Dem president elected but they're on that team.

They're also using her to increase the positive associations with the Democratic brand.

If you don't like that Hillary gets some return benefit out of that process... I don't know what to tell you. What do you want them to do, NOT take advantage of the most popular politician in the nation being a Democrat?

That's a guess, just like your guess.

I don't want any DSCC money going to anything that says "Stand with Hillary". I don't want Hillary to win in the primary elections.

Like you said, it seems like they are laying the groundwork for 2016.

They aren't building the Democratic brand.
Because those ads are targeted at people who are already solid Democrat voters, people who will vote in the primaries.

What DSCC gets out of it: build email list for future fundraising.
What Hillary gets out of it: Free ads targeted at people who are definitely voting in the Democratic primaries and caucuses.

They both win.
Who loses: people who don't want Hillary.

If I knew the answer to that question I would know a lot more about whether I care that the DSCC is running Hillary ads.

I'm afraid I know the answer to that question but as far as I know she has not commented on Obama's plan to cut social security benefits. Of course she is smart to keep her mouth shut as long as she can.

She's Bill's wife and she was Barack's SOS. A former Goldwater girl, she's a Third Wayer until she proclaims otherwise and all I can hear are the crickets. Hillary 2016 is bleeding...

But it seems like maybe they stopped now. I haven't seen any for maybe 15 minutes. I finally clicked on one. Maybe that made it stop.

This has nothing to do with promoting Hillary Clinton or her political future; it has to do with collecting names of supporters of hers to ask for support for Senate candidates.

They are about supporting gay marriage. They are using Hillary's name because she recetly came out with the video in support of gay marriage.

The ads send a message that if you support gay marriage you should "Stand with Hillary".

Which is not true.

I support marriage equality, but I do not and will not "Stand with Hillary" in any sense.

I thought the mission of DSCC was to elect Democrats to Senate. Not to tell me to "Stand With Hillary"

Why are you giving rolly-eyes?

I have seen that same add in several sites and blogs. I didn't think much of it. Maybe they used Hillary because she's wildly popular, maybe not with you, but with the vast majority of the country.

I'm just saying look this this is happening, and I don't like it.

She's getting free targeted advertising for her expected Presidential campaign, paid for by DSCC.

Maybe I'm the only one bothered by it. That happens sometimes.

A "Screen Shot" might have been helpful...but, there are DU'ers complaining about getting overwhelming Mail from Obama asking for contributions when he's not running in 2016. So...it's a good question to ask..I would think.

I was just a little concerned that the DSCC is running ads to "Stand with Hillary".

It's under the excuse of building up DSCC's email list. But it also has the effect of a free ad for Hillary Clinton's expected Presidential campaign.

Why would raising that question be called "bitching and moaning" ?

The tone of your post is starting to get a little rude and personal.

Does it bother you much to read complaints about Mrs. Clinton? If so, what are some ways you could avoid seeing those things?

I understand that you're upset about this and I even sympathize but Hillary is going to run in 2016 and will most likely win the nomination

Of course the DSCC is going to ally itself with her or at least use her image to raise money

I'm not sure that I'd get upset over it

Hillary is probably the most popular Democrat right now and why not hitch a ride on her bandwagon

who frankly wanted her to be president in 2008, and would have changed to constituion to make her and her hubby president for life, like some demented Juan and Evita Peron. That and the rich people know that as much as her supporters trash Obama, she is NO LIBERAL.

had to gulp that one down. I can understand the comparison to Juan and Evita Peron...but is Obama a Liberal in the sense most of us know the word to mean?

I did find your characterization of Clintons ...ruefully funny though...and can't say that I don't think they have enormous ruthless power that is wrong for what America was "supposedly" founded on.

But...Obama a Liberal. Not even quite there on social issues..when he invited Rick Warren to speak at his first Inauguration...

But, I'm interested in your view of Obama as a liberal. Not snarking or trashing your post, btw, because the cartoon image of Hillary and Bill and their power ...while far short of Eva and Juan...does sort of have a humorous quality...which I got...but will probably have me banned from DU for the laugh it gave me. I do think they are a DYNASTY WANNABE...just like the BUSH FAMILY...so there's that.

Dictators were the members of the military junta who staged a coup d'état and sent him into exile.

As for this ad, it was not about Hillary. It was about supporting gay marriage.

Who knows maybe Hillary is considering a run or she isn't considering a run but the fact that folks "will think" she is considering a run means she can keep her name out there and use her power and charisma to keep the "Clinton Brand" going.

It's what one does when one is Powerful and Influential. I don't fault her for it. Whichever way it works for her to keep her legacy going is what the Rich and Famous and Political just DO these days in our current American Culture.

I remember when Obama turned his Podium over to Bill Clinton and said "I'm meeting Michelle for Lunch" during the Battle over Health Care Reform.

I thought I've NEVER IN MY LIFE...seen a President in Power turn over his Speaking Podium to a FORMER PRESIDENT. I posted about it here on DU in shock and my post went to Archives. No one cared about Protocol or to explore what the dynamic was going on that a President Elected with Good Majority would feel the need to turn over his Podium to a Former President...because he was having lunch with the First Lady.

Maybe the younger folks here don't understand why that would shock me and you feel that Obama was Welcoming Clinton to help him and so on. But to us older Dems it was startling. We didn't "re-elect" a former President as a STAND IN for "THE KID." I thought it was as if Obama was the Shadow President giving his podium over to the Real Power Behind the Thrown.

Sorry...that's what I saw....and my reaction.
