Dems start Obama-to-Clinton transition

Democrats in Washington are starting to shift from the Obamas to the Clintons.

Hillary Clinton has already racked up a couple of endorsements for the 2016 presidential race — and she hasn’t even announced she’s running yet. Requests are flooding in for the former secretary of State to campaign for candidates.

Of course, President Obama remains the most sought-after figure, but his star power could fade in the coming months as the chatter about his successor intensifies. His approval rating has fallen as his administration has grappled with a variety of controversies ranging from IRS overreach to government snooping.

“The political focus of the Democratic Party will shift to Hillary, and in some ways it has already,” said former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D), who, as a staunch Clinton supporter, has an interest in seeing his forecast come true.

That's possibly the most transparently self-serving thing I've read since Paul Ryan praised the Ryan Budget Plan by name repeatedly.

(It makes me even less likely to support Hillary.)

And which one- Bush or Clinton. I predicted that the repubs threw the last election but would come back with a vengeance this time.

I'd prefer a progressive got the nod, but we know that isn't happening.

The second I know we haven't had for 30+ years, so not holding out.

Even if we got just a progressive President, that would make a HUGE difference. Most of the bad stuff going needs approval to keep moving.

I would not assume the country would be unwilling to flip the presidency, come 2016, back to the Republicans.

Look to Barack Obama's job-approval percentage in late-2015 and into 2016. (This surveillance stuff isn't inspiring the base, is it?)

She is more or less out of the limelight now, at least on a daily basis. I assume she has had no more strokes or emergency hospitalizations, due in part to the massive reduction of stress. She has to wonder herself how she would physically handle the intense pressure and stress (which are major factors in strokes) that a campaign and presidency would pose.

The scan performed by doctors revealed the clot, and treatment probably saved her life, and as you point out, prevented a stroke.

She had the norovirus, which caused her to faint and hit her head. The fall caused a concussion and a blood clot in the brain. Although, she could have had a stroke if the clot hadn't been treated.

Howard told me back in 2009 that he was way too old to try again, and he thought that younger blood was needed for the job (not referring to Hillary or anyone else specifically). I think he would only even consider it if there were a huge nation-wide "save us Howard" movement springing up out of nowhere, and he doesn't see that happening. Last year he mentioned on his birthday that it was a drag being one year away from Medicare.

I think he doesn't realize how his straightforward no-nonsense intelligent approach to politics is so refreshing and inspiring perhaps even more so now than back then. Many of the millions of us former Deaniacs will no doubt get back on board if he simply gives the word.

And I talk with him on a regular basis. If you want, just send him some snail mail addressed to him at DFA in Burlington.

He knows how starved we all are (have been, really, ever since he stepped down as DNC chair) for his straightforward approach to politics, as you so well put it. He is still as active as ever, even if not in the headlines every day any more. I think Judy is probably just as happy for it. She never liked the limelight, and they both guard their family life closely--something a president is never able to do, as they both know only too well.

We don't need another centrist in the WH. And Hillary will offer nothing more than another Obama term when it comes to policy.
