2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forum"Will Your Vote Count?"
So it's raining like an s.o.b. and I get to my book signing drenched from head to
foot and wring myself out and chug a glass of wine and make my way through the
prez helped mightily by Rebecca and Mike who do a great job and . . . we'll do it
again this Wednesday at the Rockville Public Library, Rockville, MD: discussing my
new book "Grassroots, Geeks, Pros, and Pols: The Election Integrity Movement's
Rise and Nonstop Battle to Win Back the People's Vote." Mike Hersh of PDA will
moderate and Rebecca Wilson of SaveOurVotes.org will do a Powerpoint presentation
on relevant issues in Maryland.
Plenty of parking space; validate ticket in library, come away with a book and a place
to fight the good fight, PDA or SOV or both!
The rest of the forum title is "The Election Integrity Movement and the Battle over Ballots."
See you there!

(13,812 posts)With Snowden's whistleblowing on the NSA intrusions coming out, what do you think the likelihood is now that our voting computers can be accessed and changed by secret government agencies?
Can we trust anything other then a pure paper ballot system?

(17 posts)If we don't bring in our candidates democratically, then the whole structure
will collapse like a house of cards, don't you think?

(13,812 posts)Granted, I would LOVE to see that ticket win but I would have to forgo the whole thought of "for the people, by the people" shtick and give up the whole democratic process.

(17 posts)Have to vote in the right people the right way--HCPB!

(17 posts)I'm all in favor of HCPB (hand-counted paper ballots) but the task of bringing them
back into general use is daunting. I'm going to a conference in early August for some
clues. I don't trust electronic voting at all.

(17 posts)Dear Arctic,
I distrust paper voting less than all other methods. There are times to be grateful
for stuffed ballot boxes--consider "Landslide Lyndon" in the mid-forties, for example
(well, some extra ballots found in a field put him over the top). Anecdotes abound
but indeed, I agree with you.
I wish responses to posts would appear in the email and agree that I should inhabit
DU more often.
I'm technically a European socialist who votes Democratic, so maybe that's why I'm
not here often enough, but will try to mend my ways.
Here's to you!
