We cannot afford to fix our bridges and highways.
We cannot afford to regulate emissions to keep our air breathable.
We cannot afford to help our fellow citizens after a natural disaster.
We cannot afford to provide our children with lunches at school.
We cannot afford to provide health insurance for all without the help of insurance companies.
We cannot afford to provide food stamps or rent assistance for the working poor.
We cannot afford to afford to stop energy companies from polluting our drinking water through fracking.
We cannot afford to fund frivolous things like the Environmental Protection Agency.
We cannot afford to initiate a jobs program that hires people to work for the public sector
We cannot afford to innovate or lead in new technologies.
We cannot afford to deliver the mail....and so on and so forth

(10 posts)A drawdown of our involvement in other countries. We need a cultural change here. We need to look after our own before we can go about the failing mission of, "policing the world."

(3,544 posts)it was our job to police and feed the world, and ignore our very own citizens and the land/infrastructure we own.
It's like the politicians were put in place to enforce this. It's like we love everyone else but ourselves. How can one love someone else, if we do not love ourselves first. It's pretty sad.
