George W. Bush comes out of hiding to make statements ...

and the effects are:

1. Millions of Republicans are going "Who?"

and

2. Other Republicans are going "SHUT UP! If you say that you did something, that screws up our narrative of 'Liberals are always blaming Bush!'"

just a puppet to get elected, which didn't happen either they stole that 2000 election, dick cheney was the real president.

that was about the only thing that I *ever* agreed with him on while he was POTUS but he had lost most of his clout with the GOP "base" by then that they were able to successfully and very ruthlessly attack it as "amnesty" and derail it then and they seem poised to let it die a slow death in the House (which is something that most of them actually seem proud of). I appreciate Bush trying to give the efforts a boost but, unfortunately, I think that the right-wing has even moved away from him in an ever more rightward direction.
