Even Texas. But on a statewide level, no way. Not yet. Not for a long time.

The state lege is going to be Republican for quite a long time. I'd hate to project that it'll be for as long as a generation, but as apathetic as we are about voting down here, especially us Hispanics, it's probably the sad truth. Their redistricting will hold us paralyzed for a long time to come as well.

2. I think Florida will gradually make its way there.

As a Floridian, I realize we're regarded as the state where crazy happens, but we're actually fairly politically divided. The northern portion of the state is, with some exceptions, red. You then get down to South Florida (my area, east coast more specifically) and you see solidly blue territory. Yes, the southest of the South is blue. Strange, I know.

I think the simple changing of the times is going to see that tendency begin to spread north. Our state went for President Obama twice, and we have some pretty damned racist areas. Prior to that, I firmly believe we also went for Gore, but shenanigans took their toll. There's hope yet for us, particularly with the young.

Voting enthusiasm certainly seems to be there for us. When I went to vote during the last election, during early voting, a worker spotted that I had a cane (disabled young man that I am) and escorted me up to the voting room. We practically had to wade through a sea of people to get there, and this was early on.

Sure it would be nice to make those States into decent places for SANE people to live. Not going to happen in my lifetime though. If it were up to me, I'd let Texas and any other red state leave the Union. And good riddance too.

you don't stand a chance and the GOP has a 30+ year head start on you.

The GOP knew then like they do now the less educated people are the easier they are to control.

All you can really count on is their aging racist base to tip the scales.

It is of great importance that the far right wing be limited in the damage it can do any further to the state.

Unfortunately, the gerrymandered map is making taking back control extremely difficult.
