(36,974 posts)... a two season show with around 10 episodes --- and I was impressed.
He seems like a very intelligent, down to earth, nice and caring person.

(31,780 posts)To the Wall Street crowd. I saw the numerous commercials he ran during the primary . . . to me - they are all about compromise and negotiation and made assumptions about the make-up of Congress. What will he do if we become the minority party AND Chris Christie runs in 2016. And - well - when is he going to come out and make a STRONG STATEMENT in favor of Buono? I haven't seen it yet. Really - he can't get Eva Longoria out for a woman - since he truly cares about THE PEOPLE OF NY FIRST.
I don't doubt his credentials, background, etc. etc. He is actually VERY relatable to my life experience.
But I think right now we need someone in the Senate that gets blue collar small business owners. I think Booker has a good pulse on white collar - but not blue collar. And I don't believe the economy will truly prosper until people that swing hammers are put back to work shoring up the infrastructure. And that takes a national stage to get it done.

(6,716 posts)the problem for us is that we are facing the landslide re-election of Christie. I'll obviously vote for Buono, but I really don't think there is much of a chance. Let's hope like hell that I'm wrong!

(31,780 posts)I think both he and Christie are actually running for 2016. Maybe he won't run in 2016 - but get a keynote speaker at the convention. Christie can only win by a landslide if we all stay home in November.
I remember looking and Democratic turnout in 2009 - and comparing it in 2008.
If we get every single Trenton area and Newark area voter to the polls - we could win.
But Booker is going to need to get out there and use his star power for Bouno. His election is over in early October, this isn't a large state - and he could be doing a few campaign appearances for her a week to 'attach' his 'star power' to her.

(31,780 posts)Republicans sending a message? I know our friend Doc is still a registered Republican disgusted with his party - but who has voted Obama in the past two elections.
He's kind of feisty and has a lot of chutzpah - I could see where he would go in and vote against her just because she had some of kind an 'idea today'.

(31,780 posts)This is my current county - Somerset:
C. Booker Dem 52.6% 6,312
R. Holt Dem 31.9% 3,831
F. Pallone Dem 13.5% 1,621
S. Oliver Dem 1.9% 227
I'm in Bridgewater Township/Somerville - Somerville is the County Seat of Somerset County. It has a really cool history too as it relates to the Revolutionary War!
Somerville has 12K people as of 2010 - and that's probably increasing due to the main street renaissance.
Now we just bought a home an dare moving out to Hunterdon County this fall -
This is how Hunterdon went:
R. Holt Dem 55.0% 2,197
C. Booker Dem 32.2% 1,286
F. Pallone Dem 11.3% 453
S. Oliver Dem 1.5% 60
These counties weave in and out of each other.
It's hard to tell the demarc point on 202 or Route 22 or 78 or 31.
But at the end of the day - Booker won Newark - and that's all you have to win to win the state.
So consider this - what help can outsiders give us in November (be it money, time, making phone calls, coming for the day to take people to the polls) in Newark NJ so we can vote in Buono?
Because my HOPE (as bad as it sounds) is that the real momentum vote is for Buono in November and we get the same general turn out for the special election in October. All of us that voted for Pallone and Holt are still going to vote for Booker - but as you can see - we need help making Buono into as big a 'star' as Booker.
