(Howard) Dean: ‘God help us’ if Cruz ‘becomes anything more’ than Texas senator

Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean suggested Sunday it would be terrible if Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) ever became president.

“God help us if he ever becomes anything more than a senator from Texas,” Dean said in comments on CNN. Dean, who ran for president himself in 2004, said Cruz “doesn’t know anything about healthcare” and faulted the Tea Party favorite for backing an effort to defund ObamaCare by threatening to not fund the government.

“These are crazy ideas that are from the far right,” said Dean, a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Cruz is seen as a possible GOP presidential candidate in 2016 and has quickly built strong support among the conservative grassroots, even as he has at times annoyed even some GOP senators.

that I think he'll self sabotage before he climbs much farther up the side of the Big Dungheap.

That is giving me the most hope. I do know people will vote for him out of pure spite. Spite is one of the most positive attributes in a far-right, authoritarian candidate.

4. Cruz Is A Extremist

Cruz is an extremist. I think everybody except the dumbed-down ideologues in the far-right Republican base know he's an extremist.

The trouble is that should he get the Republican nomination, the gutless, lazy, cowardly corporate media will fall over themselves to avoid examining either Cruz the candidate or Cruz the candidates positions lest they avoid being accused of having "liberal bias."

5. Not just an extremist, but a simple minded one at that.

Someone like Cruz has absolutely no ability to think in nuance, depth or consider various aspects of any issue.

He's about as deep as a parking lot puddle, and folks like that don't tend to make very good decisions, or very good leaders.
