2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBIG DEM WIN IN SPECIAL STATE SENATE ELECTION TONIGHT IN MAINE ! YES !
We WON tonight in a special state senate election in a VERY swing district. Up until 2010, the seat had been held by the Republicans since '74. The Dem incumbent left to take a new job out of state. The TeaBagger Gov. Paul LePage set the election with only five weeks to campaign. The Dems put up their County Chair Eloise Vitelli, a former teacher, schoolboard member, and who works for an advocacy organization for women and the underprivileged. Lots of experience with job creation work for working class and low income folks. Good progressive.
Good turnout for a late summer special election. I helped with GOTV calls and made a donation.
Close but a good 3% win in a very purple district against a very well known RePub.
A real repudiation for the Repubs and our whacko TeaBagger gov LePage.
TOUCHDOWN ! Now we need to take back the governorship and increase our leads in the legislature next year.
Spot on campaign up here for this. The local Dems and state party did a great job.

(13,570 posts)A State Senator from my area worked HARD on it, as did others from that district and some others from outside it. A flawless campaign.
