So now they (the RWers, of course) are trying to position guns and votes

Both appear in the Constitution as rights, they say. Thus, if we request an ID for someone to carry a gun, why not for someone to vote?

I find such a comparison sickening, but am not sue how to best respond.

that seems to be more like a poll tax. You can't just show your library card ot gass bill to vote in some states. They want to require a state ID that people have to jump through hoops to get. don't think there is any comparable requirements for gun purchases.
