She focused her comments on how personal this has become between Boehner and Reid. Blah blah blah.
At the very end she says, as almost an after thought --- "and Anderson, Senator Reid said that in September Reid and Boehner AGREED to a clean continuing resolution at the sequester levels." The compromise by Reid was agreeing to levels below what democrats wanted, and the compromise by Boehner was a clean CR.
I don't believe the Democrats have explained this well - that there was a deal between Reid and Boehner. And Boehner welshed on deal.
Boehner has no control over the House republicans. He cannot even make a deal that is for 6 weeks.

(484 posts)"welsh" is not a nice word.
A related colloquialism is the verb to welsh/welch ('to renege') as in 'to welsh/welch on a deal or bet', which is derived from an age-old 'English' stereotype of the Welsh/Celtic peoples as unreliable oath-breakers,[1] making it a somewhat pejorative term.

(36,974 posts)Reid to CNN: Boehners job is not as important as our country
Washington (CNN) In an interview with CNN Chief Congressional Correspondent Dana Bash, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid accused House Speaker John Boehner of being more worried about his job than the country amid a government shutdown.
The Nevada Democrat also talked for the first time Thursday about Boehner reneging on an agreement between the two over a clean spending bill, and admitted he directed his chief of staff to leak embarrassing e-mails that they say indicate Boehner changed his position on Obamacare subsidies for Congress.
Reid also followed up on his controversial comments from Wednesday, when he took issue with the idea that the Senate should vote to fund clinical trials for cancer patients at the National Institutes of Health during the shutdown.
In the interview, Reid criticized Boehner for bowing to a conservative faction of his caucus that insists on attaching anti-Obamacare provisions to a temporary spending bill needed to fund the government.
His job is not as important as our country, Reid said.

(7,759 posts)waiting until they gobbled up the rope to hang all of them. Now he is going to spring the clean CR and the debt ceiling on them as soon as they make all the mistakes then can and the majority of even the Republicans have had their fill of them? Isn't that what is going on??? It has to be, otherwise Boehner has just lost his mind.
